On the good side...it's a reliably Dem state. Except for that asshole Rowland.

especially if you get them from a pizza place.
I'll never forget the time my father, who has lived in CT for all of his 66 years, walked into a Subway in Madison, Wisconsin and ordered a meatball grinder. The kid behind the counter was completely dumbfounded.

35. Next to hard rolls, that is. |
|
I'm a native but I'm not living there at present. I miss those poppy seed hard rolls still warm from the oven. I also miss all that great Italian food – not many Italians in South Carolina. When I'm up there I load up on good San Marzano tomatoes to bring home.
Aside from being the birthplace of the Chimp, the thing that bothers me the most these days is the horrible congestion on I-95 in Fairfield County, and how overpopulated formerly nice places like Westport have become.

I'm guessing you've never been to the northeastern area of the state... up I 395, past Norwich... I lived out that way for about 5 years, and spent summer's out there before that... aside from Foxwoods and a handful of old mill towns, there's nothing but wide open space.

|
Edited on Fri May-07-04 07:06 PM by SarahBelle
I'm right on the eastern edge of Hartford County and when we go places, it's usually east. There's beautiful state parks, no interstates, and even a drive-in theater nearby. Any place outside the northeast part though is pretty developed. Connecticut has its faults, but there are some nice spots.

We like Mashapaug in Union too. We're very close to Gay City State Park in Hebron which is nice for shirt picnics. I mean, Connecticut does have it's downpoints, but there's some very quiet, beautiful places too. Even Northwestern CT around Salisbury and Canaan is beautiful.

3. Liquor stores close at 8pm (you have to buy your beer there too) The shaws's supermarket did have beer, but it was hard to find a Liquor stores willing to sell past 8PM. That store was way cool though, not so much the range of beers, as the owner (very interesting conversations and a few freebies (freebeers?)).

also known as Connecticut "Tran-Shit".
Almost no service after 6 PM. 6 PM?! Are you out of your mind?
Sporadic service outside city limits, only on main traffic corrdors (Dixwell Ave. in Hamden, Campbell Ave. in West Haven).
Few, if any, connections between different cities' systems. The only one I am aware of is the service along Route 1 south of New Haven, which replaced the old Northeast Transit bus.
Hourly service on Sunday, even on busy routes like Dixwell and Whalley, and none at all in smaller cities like Stamford or Waterbury.
In short, CT is a large part of the reason I am posting under the name KamaAina, and not HuskiesWinAgain or some such.
