Fur flies over contested cat food costs

NEURUPPIN - A court in Germany must decide who should bear about EUR 4,500 in costs of feeding a cat that ingratiated itself with two neighbouring households for more than two years, an official said Friday.

One family in the eastern German town of Neuruppin claim the cat showed up on their doorstep in May 2001 "looking scrawny" and that they called it Charly and fed it until September 2003.
That was when the next-door neighbours said it was their cat Bismarck. They had wondered why Bismarck was putting on weight, unaware he was snacking between meals next door under an assumed name. After that, they kept him indoors on a strict diet.

The people who pampered Charly are now demanding some EUR 4,500 in cat food costs, said Neuruppin State Court spokesman Michael Pulfrich.

"That's when the fur will fly," Pulfrich quipped. "This court has never heard a case like this before. It could be a real cat fight."

1. this really is nothing new for us cat-owners. Lets face it, the little

blighters have no loyalty and will go were their stomach leads them.
And all the time we fawn over them, love them, feed them and adore them.
It's just a one way street..and we are the mugs.
I think they can hypnotise people :silly:
