Do you remember your President Nixon?
Do you remember the bills you have to pay, or even yesterday?

Loved him since "Suffragette City".

2. Alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll right!
He was a young American, young American

(Not your President Nixon. He was an old American.)

How many of those lyrics can you recite from memory? The only ones that come right to mind (besides those) is "Give every woman like a sock on the jaw" and "The one damn song that can make me...break down and cry-hy...."

3. All of them
Considering our capacity for remembering song lyrics it makes one wonder what one could have done with one's mind in pre-radio times.

4. I've always been terrible at remembering song lyrics.
I don't know why. Even when it's a favorite song like this one.

5. There's A Brand New Dance, But I Don't Know It's Name!
I always loved this one, too! Been a Bowie fan since Hunky Dory! (My age is now revealed, huh?)

13. Oooooooh bop - FASHION!
That people from bad homes do again and again. (ooooooh bop - fashion)
It's big and it's bland, full of tension and fear (ooooooh bop - fashion)
They're doing it over there, but we don't do it here (ooooooh bop - fashion)

Fashion! Turn to the left!
Fashion! Turn to the right!
Ooooooooooooooh fashion!
We are the goon squad and we're coming to town - BEEP BEEP!

I love everything this man's ever done. EVER!

This was my first exposure to his music and ever since then I've been continually amazed as his genius. :)

14. You & Me, Both Redqueen
My wife, who was only passingly familiar with him when we met (1978), has been my #1 convert. She worships at the altar of Bowie as well.

It's like a collage of his greatest hits... every few mins a new one... now on the mental jukebox:

Ziggy playyyyyyed ... guitaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar

on edit: Good on ya for the convert! My lifetime total is 3 I think. Not too good. :(

6. Oh yeah. We thought we had it bad then.
And I mean 'oh yeah' in the spirit of 'The Seven Beauties.'

8. Have you been an unamerican?
Edited on Fri May-07-04 01:29 PM by redqueen
Just you and your idol sing falsetto bout
Leather leather, everywhere, and
Not a myth left from the ghetto

Well well well would you carry a razor
Just in case, just in case of depression?
Sit on your hands on a bus of survivors
Blushing at all the afrosheilas
Ain't that close to love?
Well ain't that close to love?
Well it ain't that Barbie doll
Her heart's been broken just like you have!

Ahhhh, Bowie... my first crush. :)

11. woohoo!
I thought I was weird. I was young and he was doing the dress up thing for Scary Monsters... I immediately went out and bought three albums and have been a devoted fan ever since. Wish I got to see him on tour more often. :(

His site is awesome, btw - if you have't seen it it's worth a visit.

10. Wow! That was great!
Bowie is a great lyricist for misheard lyrics. I thought "afroshielas" was something about "Afro Sheen."

12. Yeah some of that's bound to be wrong
Edited on Fri May-07-04 01:36 PM by redqueen
I too used to think it was Afro Sheeners, but learned from a fellow Bowie nut that I was wrong wrong wrong!

But I'm sure I'm still screwing up plenty of other lyrics. :)

16. Gee, my life's a funny thing. Am I still too young?
Unfortunately, for everyone in this thread (myself included) the answer to that question is no.
