2. UT and Son Volt are two bands I grew up on
Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy made some of the best music ever. Farrar and Sun Volt carried on that sound and legacy. Tweedy and Wilco took it in a different direction, but still made it work.

For a kid in the South, they made country cool.

3. Nice choices!
Try giving Centro-Matic and Summer Hymns a listen.

Jay. Farrar. Is. God. Put on a fantastic show a couple months ago!

Wish good luck to Tweedy in his recovery from the pain killer addiction and the migraines.

5. Hey!!
Hi from my apartment in NE Austin. :hi:

Try to get to 33 Degrees Records on Guadalupe. They're closing on May 31. :-(:-(:-( Not for economic reasons, the owners say. They just have done it for 9 years and want to move on. I'd LOVE to own that shop!

Edited on Fri May-07-04 11:13 PM by GOPisEvil
I'm gonna miss it. I mean a whole store dedicated to indie music! Wahhhh!!! I guess I'll have to go to Waterloo or Antone's...

I wish I could funnel my mortgage money to buy the place... Nahhhh...I'd probably go to jail or something!

23. Drive By Truckers
http://www.drivebytruckers.com/

nicely dark and deressing, lots shooting, teenage pregnancy, dead end jobs, etc.

even their cover art is gothic.

(he says after returning from checking his e-mail concerning the Elf Power, Of Montreal and Summer Hymns)

I can't see living anywhere else in this state.

If you can't find a woman at a Jimmy LaFave concert, you can't find a woman!
