Official DU Hockey thread
Bolts are beating the Flyers 2-1 after 2 periods.

Andreychuk and Richards have scored for Tampa. Handuz has scored for the Flyers.

Pretty good game but the Bolts need to do a better job of clearing the puck.

2. Don't think so
They whupped Philly pretty good in the regular season. Their only hope is to clog the net and the Bolts defense is too good for that when they are on.

4. They look a little rusty to me too
0-3 on the power play too so far. It could be a short series but I think it will go 6 with Tampa going to the Finals.

10. Love it, Go Tampa!
I live in Philly and all I kept hearing all week is how the Flyers are going to roll over Tampa in 4. They're too small, they didn't play anybody, blah, blah, blah... The fact is Tampa plays excellent team defense and even if you outplay them for the balance of the game they still win. One mistake and it's in your net. They don't take bad penalties and they block nearly every shot. Going to be a rude awakening here. Tampa in 5.

11. Philly in six
Tampa's first two series were with weak teams. They won't be able to sustain a hard series with Philly.

13. You are kidding , right
Philly won't be able to handle the Tampa forecheck. Tampa plays a style of hockey that you just don't see too often anymore, sending two players in to forecheck. Esche will buckle under the Tampa offense and Tampa's defense is a lot better than people give them credit. And, Khabibulin is amazing, making great saves and not giving many rebounds to the opponents.
Tampa in five.

22. Tampa is a fast team; however,
that speed was simply not present in Saturday's game. Philly simply had a few defensive zone breakdowns and did not convert on their oddman rushes. This game could have easily been 5-3 Flyers. Tampa does have a tight D especially with Sydor and Kubina on the bluelines but the core of TB's defence will not be able to handle Philly's big fowards over the series. As far as Esche buckling I think Khabibulin will buckle first. TB's first two oponents were not exactly offensive juggernauts.

26. Your right about the speed
not a big force the first game. I think the long lay-off had something to do with that. We shall see who prevails, obviously we have different opinions. ;) Anyway, it should be a good series.

Really tough call in the West. I would have given it to the Sharks easily -- except that the Flames have ex-Sharks as their coach and their goalie. We could be looking at the same deal that sunk the Raiders when they faced off their ex-coach Gruden in the Super Bowl in '03. :-(

43. Who kidnapped the Tampa Bay Lightning?
Fess up. Who's got the real Martin St. Louis duct-taped to a cement column in their basement? Huh? Because the impostors on the ice are behind Philly 6-1 (having scored their only goal after 50 minutes of hockey).

Whichever one of you kidnapped them, please return them and let them play in the next game. It would be really good for the game of hockey. Thanks.

Went to the game tonight. The Lightning played horribly.
They were not sharp at all, very sloppy passing. Hopefully they play the next game a little better.
