Can anyone help me with this Adware.Winshow problem??
Edited on Sat May-08-04 06:02 PM by MrsGrumpy
Somehow my homepage has been switched to some silly browser advertising page and I did the steps that symantec suggested for removal. But the files they said to delete do not show up on my registry and the symantec software isn't able to remove it. I'm sick of having to change my settings everytime I log in. Thanks in advance.

Laura

On edit the browser comes up with....res://mshp.dll/index.html#22776

Thanks

1. Sure can!
Goto http://www.majorgeeks.com

Goto the Spyware Removal section(or some such. Look for the word "Spyware" on the left).

Download and install the Spybot Search&Destroy rc5.

Run it. Make sure that during setup, you have teatimer.exe set to run all the time.

Run "Search for Problems". Remove said problems.

Also: goto http://www.snapfiles.com.

Goto THEIR spyware section.

Download and install SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard. Install them and make sure you run their update utilities. Run them and set them up. Easy.

You will now be as well protected against spyware as one could hope to be with Windows.

2. I had the same problem with itsearch
First it put in a task bar. Then it left sites after about a minute and went to their search page. Then it took over my startup page.

I went to their homepage and deleted from there.

BTW, I now have so much spyware, I can't even get to a download page for spyware remover. I just keep getting "cannot find server". Any ideas?

Hope my advice helps.

3. Try "EndItAll2"
It's a freeware application that kills and/or closes any application running in the background except the bare minimum needed to run Windows on your computer.

I've been using it for about 3 years now and it works very well. I highly recommend it.
