My mom died 10 years ago. You'd think Mother's Day wouldn't bother me... |
|
...anymore. But you'd be wrong.
Of course, it doesn't help that I'm having other problems, too, like the possibility of losing my job soon, and my inability to get through to someone who means a lot to me so we can talk about the rift that's grown between us.
I feel a desperate need to talk to someone, but I don't know who to call. (And please, nobody say, "Ghostbusters!") No one I've tried is home; all I get is voice mails and answering machines.
And just to put the icing on the cake, the weather in Connecticut today is gray and dreary.
As I type these words (with tears flowing down my cheeks), I'm looking at the month's supply of anti-depressants I just got from the drugstore. And I can't help but wonder if swallowing all 31 of them in rapid succession would take me out for good....

2. Today is a hard day for many to get through |
|
Just take life day by day. That's what i do...If i didn't i'd go crazy. I lost my job over a year ago, my wife left me 6 months ago. I have only a handful of friends and most of them are busy or live far away. Hang in there!

3. Anti-depressants will not really help. |

Go outside and make a tribute to your mum. . .incorporate anything you can think of, regardless of how mundane it might be. You are totally rightful to grieve her loss on such an auspicious holiday.
I have not yet experienced the loss of a parent. . .though from a 20 year history of a counseling practice, I'm well aware that the pain is probably incomparable. But if I had to make a chart of it, which would be totally stupid, the only thing that would trump it is the loss of a parent is the loss of a child.
Go and pay tribute to her however you deem appropriate. At least, it'll make you feel better.
Blessings to you and to her memory.
