Survivor thread (spoiler) |

What a finish! I wish Rupert won, but he still might win this Thursday. Is it me, or did Amber look like she had reservations about saying yes to marrying Rob?

1. I think Rupert should have won, too. |
|
Fortunately, that's the big "twist." We can vote for who we think deserves $1 dollars, and I think Rupert deserves it. here's the link, but the page has not updated yet: http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor8/index.shtml

I'd love to see Rupert win. This has been a strange season of survivor.

2. I think Rawb could see the writing on the wall... |
|
and figured if you can't win a million, marry it.
I've never really been a Rupert fan, think I'll vote for Rudy. Just about all of them are complete tools anyway.

My guess is Rupert is a liberal. ;)

6. I sense that Rudy is a homophobe |
|
Even though he got along with Rich, he basically admitted that he didn't like "fags". I'm not sure if that was his exact wording or not, but I believe those were his sentiments.
Rupert does come across as liberal. IIRC, he's also a counselor for troubled teens. I'd love to see him win the $1 million.

7. You're right, of course he is a rightwinger |
|
but I can leave politics aside for survivor. I just get tired of all the bullshit from these people. Rudy was too old and set in his ways to bullshit.

I'm also voting on who i think needs the money. Rudy is 76 and retired. Rupert doesn't have a high paying job...i think he could use the money.

10. I can certainly respect your opinion |
|
I think that the reason I have a problem with Rupert was in the previous season when he bellowed and swore and effectively physically threatened John. Now, of course, there never was a player or scarcely a human being more deserving of a stomping than that worm. I just found in an unforgiveable bullying tactic. I've been a little sour on Rupert ever since.
If not for that incident, I'd be right there with ya on this one.

5. This year was a disappointment |
|
For being All-Stars, the majority didn't play that well. It was fairly obvious that they needed to break up Amber and Rob. I was afraid that Amber would win if it came down to the two of them. As much as I hated the guy, I was pulling for Rob to beat Amber. Rob was the brains behind the game, but ended looking like the solitary bad guy.
I hope Rupert wins on Thursday. I know I'll be casting my vote online for him. It's a safe bet, IMO, that Rupert runs away with it. Maybe Kathy and Rudy get a decent percentage as well.
If I were CBS, I wouldn't do another All-Stars installent. Some of the best players ended up leaving too early. I didn't see why some of the players, like Shi-Ann and Big Tom, were even All-Stars. I'm guessing we'll be seeing Survivors 9 and 10 come September and then in the winter of 2005.

There's no guarantee they'll actually get married.
I didn't watch this season at all, just caught a little bit of the finale.

I've been complaining about Survivor getting like Big Brother has been where the jury votes based on their grudges. I have a soft spot for Amber, but thought she wasn't the best player. And though I like Rupert more than Rob, I voted based on who I thought was most deserving.

21. Amber played the game top-notched |
|
she hooked up with one of the game's biggest players with Boston Rob and left him to do all the dirty work.
He falls in love and takes her to the final 2 but everyone was pissed at Rob, not Amber (well, except Kathy).
She ruled!

What a sad, sad bunch of "All Stars".
I can't wait for the next season of Survivor so we can actually see some people play the game.
Bah!
Awful.

I was so disgusted with the Amber/Rob final two that I just watched to see who won, then turned it off.
What is this about voting?

16. There's a second million dollar prize |
|
CBS is running an online+text messaging poll to see who viewers think is most deserving.
You can vote for any of the 18 All-Stars, the winner will be announced Thursday night, I believe.

17. Cool. I'm voting for Jenna L, then. |
|
Edited on Mon May-10-04 02:24 AM by Pithlet
Thanks. I do not think Rob was the most deserving. I don't think he played a smart game; I think everyone else played a dumb one. Amber didn't even come close to playing the best game, although that's not saying much with that bunch. They're going to be the next Trista/Ryan, with the televised wedding BS, so I'm sure they'll get more money, anyway. They've already been on the cover of People.
I really liked Rupert last season, but he was too much of a bonehead this time around.
I heard that Jenna L was very classy at the end, and since she was 3rd, she gets my vote.

18. Yeah, I was pretty disgusted. |
|
From Jenna voting off Rupert to the stupid proposal at the end....made me want to puke. The proposal was a publicity stunt, through and through- they obviously want to become a celebrity couple. And I also think it was Rob's way of guaranteeing himself at least 500 thou....of course, if he had won, maybe he would have backed out.

who wasn't moved at all by Rob and Amber's engagement? I don't find either of them particularly interesting and don't think they have much chemistry. They seem like okay people outside of the game, but not especially compelling.
I was wishing for Rupert to win, but alas. And Jenna dumping him to go with Rob/Amber was stupid, stupid, stupid. She put herself in a position where she had to win immunity. She should have forced the tie and seen what happened.

20. It was nice that Amber gave the car to Shi-ann |
|
but I would have given it to Kathy. I mean, it was Kathy that Amber got on her hands & knees to beg Kathy not to vote her out.
Kathy sure as hell deserved something for that because she knew Lex would get had by Rob

22. Rupert for the Thursday million all the way... |
|
...All Star Survivor (ASS) was totally non-compelling TV. Maybe they could get Richard Hatch to perform the wedding ceremony on TV. He'd love the opportunity to say a few more words and get a little more 'face time'. Weasels and airheads always win. When will I learn and stop watching?

23. Rupert is a shoo-in for the $1mill |
|
That was a nice twist from CBS and Rupert is so freaking popular that even Diebold could screw up this voting mechanism.
And why do we watch? Because our brains deserve a little brain candy from time to time. Survivor is mine. But I didn't watch last night because I forgot to (except the tail end of the reunion). Personally, if they never had another All-Stars again I'd be fine with that. I like it a heck of alot better when I have to figure out folks on my own.

Even Jeff Probst has said as much. It was like watching someone else's family reunion -- you had no idea of all the interactions these people had outside the game.

He had to know that there was no way the jury would give him the mil. Rupert's got my vote for Thursday.
