Sorry, that's the unruly kid in me coming out.

Edit to add:
The next five people to reply to this thread who need a star will get one. And yes, even Philly fans qualify. ;)

1. AWESOME picture!
But let's be honest... that kid belongs in Philly with their dreadful fans. With the way Philadelphia acts, they don't deserve to have pro sports at all.

throwing batteries onto the field when JD Drew came in his first time, booing Donnovan McNabb at the NFL Draft, throwing snowballs at Jimmy Johnson and Santa Claus, and Angelo Cattaldi's (sp?) constantly doing stupid shit with his lunatic followers, yeah it's only a stereotype :eyes:

cowboy got injured. And they yelled obscenities at Deion Sanders as he led a prayer group.

The list of shit Philly fans have done that crossed the line from playful ribbing to sick lunacy is almost endless.

6. Stereotype???
Are you kidding me? I was there when they booed what is currently one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL on the day he was drafted. I've seen footage of throwing shit at Mike Schmidt simply because he didn't hit a home run in a particular at-bat. They've cheered for players who've just sustained potentially lethal injuries. They booed friggin' Santa Claus!

If you consider it a stereotype that Philly fans suck at life, well, the only thing I can say is that some stereotypes are earned!

10. Mike Schmidt was booed because he was a pompous asshole...
A good ball player, but it was pretty well known around town that he was a class A dick!

I didn't like it when McNabb was booed, but the fans wanted Ricky Williams...oh well...

15. Never heard that about Schmidt
I've heard him make some comments about how shitty Philly fans have treated him, but outside of that, I've never heard anything bad about the man. Granted, I was not in the city during his career, so I can't say for certain, but I still have yet to read anything bad about his personality or character.

19. Yeah, Redskins fans sure are classy.
Not. I went down to FedEx field last year and those fans are no different from us except they bitch out when it comes to actual fighting. Insults, beer thrown at us, the whole nine yards but no one would throw down. It was fun actually, clowning people you are clearly outnumbered by. Don't act all high and mighty when your fans are nearly the same and your team has a racist nickname.

14. Philly fans
My grandmother is from Philly. She's a little 80 year old woman, but when the Eagles are on she is vicious.

Also, she has hated the Phillies for the last 40 years because in 1964 the couldn't win one game out of the last ten to go to the World Series.

16. Stanley Cup=Philadelphia Flyers!!!!!!!
This IS the year. I will be flying down to Philadelphia from Boston for the parade and I will hopefully get a prime spot on Broad Street to watch the celebration.
Yeah, I have been to all of the team's games except for the Eagles and I have to say that yeah, the Philly fans can be pretty rough, but at least they care and can keep a team in their cities. No apathy there.

A nice fella I was chatting with yesterday said this: "Esche will buckle under the Tampa offense and Tampa's defense is a lot better than people give them credit. And, Khabibulin is amazing, making great saves and not giving many rebounds to the opponents". ;-)

because i have an intense loathing of philly teams. I love it when they get so close to winning a championship only to fail. They must have done it fifteen times since 1983, and almost every time i've felt warm all over.

36. I'm cheering for Philly only because...
...the Stanley Cup (and NHL teams, for that matter) doesn't belong in cities that don't know SHIT about hockey (Raleigh, Nashville, Tampa Bay, Miami, Phoenix, etc.).

Raleigh, NC gets an NHL team, and Winnipeg (THE Hockey City in North America next to Detroit and the Twin Cities) is left with the shitty AHL. THAT'S an injustice on the part of Gary Bettman.

39. Well actually
Some of us DO know shit about hockey. Coming from upstate NY originally, I played 4 years in organized league hockey. Even down here in Florida I played in an informal pick up league once a week for awhile. So I'm assuming that's just your unbiased opinion.

Edited on Tue May-11-04 07:14 PM by Cousinit13
my roommate is a vicious Flyers fan and whenever they lose, its not very fun to be cooped up in a dorm room with her. All Philly fans that I know suffer from this same problem...you would think that they would be used to losing by now.

 (dodging flying fruit and vegetables by rabid Philly fans!)

On edit: thanks for the star notawol, as a poor and unemployed college student, I probably wouldn't be able to get one!
