Any Vespa owners out there?
If so, thoughts and comments on ease of use; maintenance costs; fuel costs compared to mpg. I am about to take a new job that is much closer to my home and am considering getting one for commuting in the warm summer months. Your input would be appreciated. THanks!

1. Not an owner
but I've been window shopping for scooters for about five years now!! I love the Vespa because of its classic styling. But some people have said that a much better deal is the Indian made Bajaj. There's even a dealer on Buford highway.

The other scooter which I think is the best engineered is the Scarabeo. Its got larger wheels and therefore a much smoother ride. Its made by Aprilia.

3. Thanks burythehatchet!
Where on Buford Hwy is the Indian dealer located? I live in Brookhaven and am close to that area of Buford Highway. Thanks for your input.

5. Why is the significance of the numbering?
I am at the earliest stage of looking, and dont even know what those numbers mean, if anything, to the brand.

8. I ride a Honda Scooter
Less expensive and it starts every time. Unlike Vespas, from what my Vespa driving friends tell me.

My 49cc, 4 stroke Honda Metropolitan gets 100mpg, goes up to 40 mph and does not require a separate motorcycle classification license. Oh, and it only cost $1700 out the door. It's known as the Crea Scoopy in Japan and it's their most popular scooter. It costs virtually nothing to maintain and I've owned mine for two years now and had not a single mechanical problem. I drive mine in all weather, as it is my primary mode of transportation.

Hope that helps! :-)
