R&B John Whitehead Shot Dead

John Whitehead, a prominent R&B artist best known for the 1979 hit song "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now," was shot dead Tuesday, police said.

Whitehead, 55, and another man were working on a vehicle when they were shot by two gunmen, police said. The assailants fled.

Whitehead was shot in the neck and collapsed. Ohmed Johnson, who was shot in the buttocks, was in good condition early Wednesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Police said the gunmen fired a series of bullets; a young neighborhood girl said she heard about a dozen shots.

1. So THAT'S what they were talking about this morning....

I heard a tail end of this on the radio this morning. Something about a senseless shooting, then them talking about the song and how great it was and stories about 81 when it came out, then playing it.

This sucks. I wonder if there's something we're not being told. Who just walks up to a guy working on a car and shoots him?

A poor little girl was just needlessly shot in Washington, D.C. last week. Sadly in some neighborhoods it's not an uncommon occurrence.
