Somebody please MAKE me fill out my daughter's FAFSA |
|
I went online to do it with good intentions. But hey, I found a cool site by accident, which led me to another topic (that particular one was so stuiped; it was funny) which put me completely off track. And now out of guilt, I'm here...
I HATE this FAFSA crap. The last time I filled it out, I made an egregious boo-boo (something about my daughter's Ed. Pin. ) Anyway, whatever I did wrong cost me an extra 2k since her Stafford and Perkin loans were affected. :dunce:
The point? I'm only a HS Grad so this stuff is foriegn to me, Could somebody help? ANY advice would be welcome.
I owe $$ that I shouldn't for my daughter's last semester (Perkins/Stafford thing) Anyone? Please?
PS- The Syracuse U folks have been excellent by giving my daughter their full funding (THANK YOU ALUMNIS!!!!) But they can't seem to help me w/the other stuff.

2. Try your local high school |
|
Aren't you in a small rural district too? The counsler here will help parents of any past/present students with the paperwork.
BTW, how does she like it? Our friend's son is attending the environmental school there.

"I owe $$ that I shouldn't for my daughter's last semester (Perkins/Stafford thing)"
either you paid it now, or you'd pay it later...the perkins and staffords both have to be repaid (if i'm not mistaken). one of bush's clever little tricks...cutting back on grants in favor of loans.
anywhoo, it helps to have your 1040 paper tax returns in front of you when you do the FAFSA on line. if you do that, the FAFSA actually references which boxes on the 1040 you should look at to fill in FAFSA info.
hope this helps...

You are a Godsend! But even w/your help and encourgment, it all still sucks. I will do as you suggest while filling out the FAFSA but think this whole thing is absurd! SU's tuition was 38k last year  What next?
I've got 2 jobs but will take a third if necessary.Forget my own education...My dreams are gone. But I'll get my baby through somehow.
