When conservatives attack |
|
I've lost count how many times I've been called a communist. I get it in e-mails and people post it on web message boards. The funny thing is, in all the years I've been a writer, I've not written a single word about communism. In fact, I'd be hard pressed to describe communism to someone, that's how ignorant I am. Apparently disagreeing with the policies of the Bush administration qualifies me as a communist. I'm not sure how, but it does.
Someone once posted to a message board about my "commie" web log, and gave some examples of the links I have to various Democratic causes and web sites. Of course they forgot to mention the links I had to web sites dedicated to helping our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I suppose if we're going to label each other, fascist would be a good label for right-wingers.

1. It's just 'cause communism is as far left as you can go on the political |
|
spectrum, with fascism being as far right. The natural kneejerk reaction, then, is to call a liberal a commie bastard (if you are a conservative) and, (if you are a liberal) to call a conservative a fascist pig...
But you knew that..... :-)

2. Just wait until they call you a nazi... |
|
...their justification is that they looked the word up and saw that it means national socialism. So socialism means that you are a nazi. So you see, conservatives are scary when they are ignorant but maybe they are scarier when they try to educate themselves.
