4. huh?
I didn't realize that John Kerry is in the same league as Lenin or Mao. You wouldn't know that if you listen to RW talk radio or watch Fox news.

7. Sorry If my post didn't make sense to you.
I was not speaking of Kerry. I was speaking of a thread earlier today, that had the most stupid idiotic posts I have ever seen! Basically say how much better Cuba is than America.

Heres one quote "Yes, the USA has fallen, but Cuba has been rising for 45+ years - surpassing the USA in equality for all."

Will not post anymore quotes from that thread be cause it's utter bullshit!

Cuba is the only true dictatorship and the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. The only equality is in poverty.
I love it when people who oppose the death penalty in the US praise Cuba. Castro has had more than 17,000 executed since 1959.
Last year he executed a number of people, one day after their trial ended during the crackdown on dissent. At least here there is a lengthy appeals process.
I also heard that Cuba has the largest percentage of blacks among their prison population. I heard it is close to 80%.
Cuba under Castro led the world in lobotomizing dissidents and gays, until the 1980s. gays are still put in mental institutions down there

I have seen of enough Castro worship here. I oppose dictatorship in all of it's forms, and no matter how much better Castro might be than Batista, he is a fossil.
Castro also destroyed the Democratic elements of the anti-Batista movements in the early sixties and purged them, preventing real reform to happen.

There is a great Twilight Zone episode, where after a Castro look alike seizes power, he become paranoid after seeing a mirror that shows him that enemies are all around him and goes crazy.

17. OMG
I didn't realize Castro had a fan club here or that to oppose him meant you were a bush lover. Maybe the fan club doesn't know people from Cuba and hasn't heard their stories. It can be a real eye opener to hear them first hand.

9. FDR does rock!
I just finished reading 'Freedom from Fear' which is an excellent history of the FDR years. Great President. One of the best ever (along with Lincoln)

13. The only one I've read about him was...
Edited on Sat May-15-04 11:32 PM by FDRrocks
"Rendezvous With Destiny", which was as comprehensive as an 700 page description of the New Deal and World War 2 could hope to be.

I've been meaning to read some works more specific to the inner workings of the New Deal, but have been reading some classics of fiction lately and am currently bogged down in "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" which I am simoultaneously enjoy and laboring through.

14. The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich
is one ofd the best books ever published. I read it cover to cover in a week. I could not put it down. I am a speed reader, though, and often that entailed me reading from when I got off of work till almost 4 or 5 in the AM

16. It's very well written...
Enthralling in its material and the way it is written. At first I was a bit disgruntled on the choice of adjectives used when referring to homosexual activiy, specifically the SA leadership, but I have to keep the era in mind.

I've almost at page 400 for 2 weeks of reading, I have alot of stuff going on, maybe I'm a bit stressed, don't know why I'm moving so slow. I swept through Crime and Punishment in 5 days immediately prior to this. :(

It's a fringe thing. I will not add to their traffic and thus their ad revenues.
