PUI 'Posting Under the Influence'
How many of you are guilty of this? I know I am. There have been some times that I've gotten pretty drunk and then posted at the DU, only to wake up the next day and rush to find out what nonsense I said! You know what they say....'A drunk person's words are a sober person's thoughts', and 'You are what you say at the neighborhood bar.' Anybody else do this or similar? I used to play guitar and sing at bars (in the 80's) and I got pretty good at performing while drunk. In fact, sometimes I got paid in beer! Anyway, I've got to run off to work in fifteen minutes so I'll check out what y'all got to say about this in the morning.
Icy

1. I'm just as much of an asshole PUI
as I am sober. I also don't get that drunk, usually just a beer or three. Somewhere along the line I lost my passion for not being able to remember the night before.

4. It's not 'not remembering' the night before....
It's more like not remembering how bad my mastery of the English becomes. Singing a song in public...no problem. Voicing my thoughts, big problem.

9. I also can't type sober.
I think it actually improves after the first beer.

3. Ohhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
but I am more guilty of EUI... Emailing Under the Influence.

My friends and I have jokes about computers needing a breathylyzer.. but maybe you could block certain sites or only allow certain ones... and email would only work to your "allow list," which only your best friend would have the password to.

I have sent sooooooo many emails that never should have been sent.... mostly mushy-gushy ones to my ex bf, but also some rather explicit ones to guys I shouldn't have trusted with my private thoughts!LOL!

11. Why not?
I heard on the History channel a few years back that our Founding Fathers drank an enormous amount of alcohol!
Well, Gotta go people. Goodnight.:hi:

6. No biggie
Some of my highest modded Slashdot posts -- and a few Wikipedia edits -- were after a beer or three.

Not saying I made no typos, but I think they were nonetheless well received.

10. Most of my non lounge posts are PUI
I don't hold the delusion that my posts will change anyones minds, and given that conflict might (indeed, usually does, being that I tend to hit up the more controversial threads) arise from such a useless endeavour, I typically just browse DU or post to the lounge.

13. ouch
Well, a few times I've gotten a little hammered and then posted (not necessarily just on this board).

I wake up worrying a little about what I might have posted and then check in and find it wasn't that incoherent or bad.

What I have done is recognize my occasional behaviour in this manner; and then realize that I'm not unique. So I take others' posts with this realization in hand.

But it's really not so much different from going to the local pub and having a few and spouting off. Except here, people are a little less inhibited because of the near-anonymity.

Caveat ethanol; or caveat cannabinol as the case might be!

15. Hello everyone.
I'm not only back from work, I've been drinking! Strange for morining, huh? I work midnights. Been working this shift since 1984! Anyway, I'd love to hear what you 'normal' people have to say...
