1. you ain't bbq'n, yer grillin' (not that there's anything wrong with that!)
purists will tell ya bbq is "low and slow" whereas grilling is high heat.

The other day I grilled a fancypants pork loin, marinated in jerk rub, then butterflied and stuffed with black olive tapenade, and wrapped with my homemade bacon (made with my trusty smoker). The next day, it was dogs and kraut.

Sadly, no grilling scheduled today.

3. heck, you can grill in the rain! especially big steaks since they don't
have to be turned but one time (well, you can rotate them 90 degrees when they're halfway thru the first side---or even after 2 mins if you like---if you want to make the distinctive crosshatch pattern that grillmasters take pride in). So you'll grill those big boys, what, like a total of 7 or 8 minutes per side (ok, maybe a few more if they're REALLY as big as that guy's noggin). And if they're thicker than your hand, which it sounds like they are, you can close the lid.

So yer good to go!

5. no carport or garage (at the edge, with the door OPEN so you don't die)
Edited on Sun May-16-04 12:10 PM by soothsayer
or overhang or whatnot? You only need a wee bit of cover for your grill.

Whaddya get? Whaddya get? Weber? Charcoal or gas?

Whatcha gonna make first?

On edit: Best book you can buy---How to Grill by Steven Raichlen. Great, explicit instructions, loads of pictures, and tremendously tasty recipes. Actually, all his books are great, but I would start with that one. You'll be making east/west chicken wings, asparagus rafts, and even PIZZA on the grill before you know it.
