Poll question: The world is coming to an end!
But the question is, when? What do you think?

If you choose "other" please provide your scenario!

2. We ignore Peak Oil at our own peril.
You are seeing the beginnings of it at the pump.

8. It's not the End of the World
But oil peak is going to make it pretty damn uncomfortable for a lot of people in the meantime.

And in case you haven't heard, it WILL be the end of suburbia.

11. I've been reading more about Peak Oil.
One issue I find of particular interest is the idea that - without plenty of oil - the carrying capacity of Earth is only about two billion people. That suggests a really big die-off.

And when faced with starvation, what do those 4 billion plus people do? :scared:

4. By "world" do you mean end of human life as we know it,
Or just the end of Earth itself?

10. Good question.
Let's use the end of human life as we know it.

The future of a blasted cinder that used to be Earth isn't very interesting...

Thanks! :)

unless something is done to stop the wild environmental changes we are causing, I doubt that in 5,000 years the world will be recognizable as we know it, but I suppose the world would have ended by then. We'll probably end up destroying it ourselves within the next several thousand years unfortunately.

6. I think we should give it back to the cockroaches and crocodiles
They were taking better care of it.

But I think it's just the end of the world as we know it. There's still 1000 years of peace that we haven't had yet. Just MHO.

9. Of course the human race
will be extinct long before that. We have a very basic flaw that makes it impossible for most of us to think rationally. The human race is a failed experiemnt.

16. Sure.
But the question isn't if the world is coming to an end - that's generally accepted. The question (with appropriate punctuation) is when and how will it do so.

17. Peak OIl concerns me greatly . . .
I think we're already post-Peak, but all of the indicators tend to lag by about 5 years. When we hit $5/gallon I'll be pretty sure it has happend. That's when I sell the house and build a cabin way up in the woods.
