We should hand out awards......that's a blue (or should I say 'red') ribbon winner! And it goes so well with your Biblical Flood story.

2. Considering that it rained |
|
pretty much all night long, I don't understand why the flood watches are ending at 8am or 9:30am. I'd expect the high water to peak a few hours after that.
Hey Mopaul, remember our flood of 93? After that amazing downpour the ground around here was so saturated that all summer long every time it rained the ground couldn't absorb any more and water just streamed off all the lawns.

4. I hope we don't need the national guard |

to save our asses, if the rain doesn't shut off soon, and it looks like it's going to continue for a while anyway, we could be in trouble. It's raining here now, thunder right outside our door made me jump, with a loud WTF. It's dark too I hate having to turn the lights on in the daytime.

I live one mile south of Oak Park Mall in Overland Park. Took my kid to school just now, leaving at 7:30am. Traffic was much lighter than usual, roads (103rd to 69, then south to 435, then east to State Line Road, then south on State Line about two miles) were high and dry. Apparently lots of people took to heart the advice to stay home if possible.
I'm fortunate enough to live in a house with a properly built basement, on slightly high ground. Never get water inside, other than when I leave windows open. Good thing the basement stays dry as my brother lives there.

7. I lived in Lenexa during |
|
the late sixties and early seventies, before Oak Park. There used to be an excellent fishing pond where the mall is now. My brothers and friends would ride our bikes out 95th. to fish in it. I was down there a couple of years ago and got profoundly lost things had changed so much, I finally found a landmark on 95th. said that's enough got on I35 and got the hell out of there.
