1. Years ago --
Let's see -- is that the one where Hitler becomes a science-fiction writer?

2. Sort of, actually
the book itself is supposedly written by Adolph Hitler in an alternate universe in which he becomes a science fiction writer.

5. Yes, read it a few years ago.
A strange but very thought-provoking book! I like Spinrad's work. Very few writers have done as much in their fiction to explore freedom of speech and of media access issues as he has. His A WORLD APART has some neat if semi-utopian ideas about how to organize a good hi-tech society.

6. I really liked 'A World Apart'
Spinrad's one of my favorites. He is not afraid of going 'over the top'.

10. 'Little Heroes' is a personal favorite.
Also liked 'Russian Spring.' I read 'Little Heroes' a couple of years ago, again -- the libraries where I am now don't seem to carry as much of his stuff as the ones did back in the eighties. Haven't read the others as recently.

Didn't he also write a sort of 'post climate collapse' book about a guy who lived on a catamaran? Am I confusing him with someone else? I used to read so much SF, and it was years ago, it kind of gets mushed together. Spinrad and John Varley are similar enough stylistically, too, I sometimes confuse their novels.

9. He wrote a few Star Trek (Kirk era) stories...
I don't recall the titles, apart from "The Doomsday Machine" which was a rather fun one to watch...

11. Good book!
I especially liked the afterward, where they tried to put the entire context of the story into the terms of the international Communist conspiracy.
