Anybody here know anything about DDrums?
Have you heard them live? Do you know anybody who owns a set? What do you/they have to say about them?

Thanks

1. Never heard of them, but I like the way it looks

They seem to be using real mylar drum heads to trigger the synth instead of rubber pads. I had a chance to play on a few rubber-pad type drum controllers (an Octopad and some Yahama thing), and really didn't like the action from the rubber.

In addition, I've heard that the rubber pads can be hard on your wrists over time. Those mylar heads would feel a lot nicer. Plus, the high hat and bass drum triggers look just as good.

How much is it? (guessing: about $4,000?)

3. How much noise do they make?
Just wondering if they're townhouse/apartment friendly. I haven't been able to play my real drumset for years and rubber electronic drums just suck.

4. They're made by Clavia
who make a kick-ass synth with their Nord Lead, so the brain is probably pretty good.

check out this comparison with the Roland V-drums:
(I have an old Roland kit with rubber pads and they suck but the mesh heads on the V-drums are great.)

also, you can check out MP3s to hear some of the sounds here:

I've never played this kit, but if the brain's good and they have mesh heads, could be a good deal. It's always best to play them to know for sure, though.

Do you have a Sam Ash or Guitar Center near you? perhaps they have some you could check out.

6. No problem...
Actually, thank you for alerting to me to this kit. i've been looking into it and i'm thinking of getting one.

I like the idea that the brains of the thing uses sampling technology where you can add in your own drum sounds. and it looks like there's a wide selection of sounds available for the it.

I had been considering the new V-drum setup that Roland just came out with to replace my current rubber-pad kit, but I think this could be much better.
