I'm HAPPY about it!! Maybe my blood pressure will manage to drop to a manageable level and I'll stop walking around muttering about the lying criminals who've taken over our country. :bounce:

2. Aww thanks
I WILL miss the lounge while I'm gone. But seeing my daughter get more and more excited at the prospect of going to the Fleetwood Mac concert tonight is more than enough to make up for it. :D

3. I love Fleetwood Mac...
I just wish Christine were with them...

Don't you love it when people respond to your posts?

4. But... but Christine being gone is a GOOD thing
Actually, I like them with or without just as much. My daughter is the rabid fan though, and she's glad to see Christine out of the picture.

Oh, and yes I do, it makes me feel loved and wanted and all warm and fuzzy inside :bounce:

5. Sorry to disagree...
But Christine is a crucial element of classic-era Mac. The vocal interplay between Chris, Stevie and Lindsay will be sorely missed.

Songbird... need I say more?

6. I don't find Christine all that offensive
I just never cared that much about her one way or another. Now Lindsey, that's a different story altogether. Take away Lindsey and it's over.

8. Peter who???
Kidding, of course... but Peter Green era Mac and classic-era Mac are completely different animals...

Whitacre D_WI claims to have lost interest in Pink Floyd following the departure of Syd Barrett! But Barrett-era Floyd was just two albums worth of hopelessly dated pshychedelic crap... nothing like the Floyd that produced DSoTM, WYWH, Animals, The Wall...

Apples and Oranges

But I agree that Lindsey is more crucial than Christine... Remember Billy Burnette and Rick Vito?

12. First it was Syd...
Syd was the creative force behind the original Pink Floyd (when they were still called 'The Pink Floyd')

Then Roger Waters and David Gilmour began a decade-long battle for creative control, with Waters dominating the ideology and Gilmour defining the musical signature of the band.

Gilmour, by virtue of winning the rights to use the name 'Pink Floyd' following Waters' departure, is currently 'Pink'.

I supposed Roger was solely and exclusively 'Pink' for one album... guess which one I'm talking about...

16. Ouch!!!
I love Barrett-era Floyd. For being "hopelessly dated pshychedelic crap" it sure inspired over three decades of music. Don't get me wrong, I like later Floyd also. But I have to disagree with you about apples to oranges. Ummagumma, Atom heart mother, Meddle and Obscure by clouds was a pretty smooth transitional period for the Gilmore-era Floyd.
Just an opinion, but I had to put in my two cents for Barret-era Floyd.

19. You got me, there...
I didn't mean to disparage Barrett-era Floyd so harshly... I just have to wonder if the band would even be remembered were it not for Gilmour and Waters' taking the project in a different direction post-Barrett.

And I do tend to gloss over the transitional albums... Obscured by Clouds being my favorite of these...

The Syd Barrett era was brief and totally different from the work that would eventually elevate the band to legendary status. My biggest gripe is not that Barrett-era stuff was inferior, but that many people try to make it so much more significant in the grand Floydian scheme of things than it actually was.

10. I'd agree with that to a point
But I don't even think of the pre-Lindsey and Stevie Fleetwood Mac as the same group. The changes were way too drastic to even lump them into the same category.

14. I hear ya on that one
My earliest musical memories are of Rumours and the Chain playing over and over and over again. The great thing is that their latest CD and the setlist they seem to be sticking with on the tour is more reminescent of Tusk. You can hear Lindsey's influence all over this cd and that's a GOOD thing. B-)

17. Have a great time!!
And don't forget your way back to DU while you're gone. Leave a trail of breadcrumbs or something :bounce:

I'm leaving in about an hour and heading to Charlotte. Going to spend the night there after the concert and head back sometime tomorrow. Now let's see if I can resist the lure of CNN while I'm deprived of the net.
