Freepers too stupid to understand language

"Left of center" means slightly askew, or not in the norm.

1. They were all ready to start boycotting Taco Bell
Incidentally, my brother and my mom's UCC minister were boycotting Taco Bell recently, something to do with tomatoes and the exploitation of labor.

Taco Bell is owned by Pepsi, hardly a liberal company.

4. Yes, there is a proposed boycott of Taco Bell
By the United Methodist Church, I believe...over unfair labor practices involving where they get their tomaotes. I think it's a noble boycott for that reason.

9. Taco Bell is owned by Yum Brands
Yum used to be Tricon Global (stock symbol YUM). It is not currently a part of Pepsico. It is, however, a very heavy donor to the GOP.

Yum currently encompasses five "concepts"--brands of quick-service food...

* Taco Bell: sells Mexican-themed fast food
* Pizza Hut: sells Italian-themed foods; it used to sell only pizza but now they have pastas
* Long John Silver's: sells fried fish and French fries
* KFC/Kentucky Fried Chicken (depending on the country you are in): sells foods that contain chicken. "KFC" chosen over "Kentucky Fried Chicken" not because it's some kind of genetically-engineered mutant beast, but because not all of it's fried.
* A&W: Originally a root beer stand, they sell hot dogs, burgers and the like.

They also have "combo" restaurants--one store that sells both Pizza Hut and KFC, say--they can do any combination of the five concepts.

5. I'e Never Seen or Heard "Left-of-Center" Used That Way
is it a West coast thing? The FR thread was not especially literate, but I was also nonplussed by the way TB phrased it.

6. I guess Left means we are the left hand of God.
That site is really over the edge. I read them every day but they are just so funny. It is hard to think grown people and Americans think like that. I of course was one of those people who never thought any one who believed like that would ever get much power. We after all we learned better in grade school.

7. The lack of intelligence from these folks . . . .
never ceases to amaze me, such as this gem:

"I try to boycott anything French, clothing and toys made in China and I try hard to not buy gas at stations that buy their supply from the Saudis."

So lets see, he'll support Bush whose family is in business with the Saudis and has been for decades, but won't support a gas station who uses fuel that came to the US as a result of those business ties.

Of course there's that little matter that by the time the oil hits the refinery it's impossible to tell it's nation of origin anyway since the tankers mix oil from many countries.
