Any Weather Radio experts here? |

I have this Radio Shack SAME Alert Weatheradio (sic) with AM/FM Atomic Clock Radio, and I set it up for the first time tonight.
Everything appears to be functioning properly (although I won't know if the alert function works until there's an alert -- which, given our crappy weather, should be sometime overnight).
However, it makes a very low buzzing sound -- kind of like when you've got the radio tuned between stations, and it's not receiving anything. It's barely audible -- if I knew it was supposed to do that, it would be white noise (kind of like the DVR on the cable box has become). But right now, it's bugging me.
So -- my question -- is it supposed to do that or not? (Radio Shack is closed for the evening, or I'd give them a call. Google didn't help.)
I have it set to voice alerts, radio and alarm off, if that helps.
Thanks. :hi:

1. Weather band is always broadcasting around here. |
|
There is a pre-recorded loop of the most recent info from the NWS. Unless you are tuned to some emergency band I'm not aware of...

2. Yeah -- I can get the recorded loop |
|
I've got that shut off, or maybe the way the radio handles it, it's just silenced and that's why I get the little buzz.
I can turn on the loop by hitting the "snooze" button.
If there's an alert, it will automatically come on and tell me what's up. (Supposedly -- I haven't tested it.)
