However, there are only about 4 that I talk to regularly.

Most of them are DU'ers that I've never spoken with. I received a master list of about 75 DU'ers. Usually when I see a DU'er with a AIM icon in their profile, I add them just for the hell of it.

7. By necessity, a big fat ZERO

My computer time is 95% work, in the wee hours putting together or calculating large Excel workbooks. I only post on DU during those hours, a brief but necessary break in the Excel monotony.

No way I can afford to IM during that period, so my buddy list is blank and only family and a few friends are not excluded from sending me instant messages.

Bluntly, it's like my desdain for cell phones. I prefer to initiate contact, not absorb, because otherwise I'm too polite and let the conversations drag on longer than I can afford.
