So therefore, I am more qualified to be pResident than Bush, since the only reason the American Errorist has taken up riding is because Kerry rides... I even had a shoe come un-clipped going up a hill (just like Lance!) and still didn't eat the tarmac!

Now Kerry, Well, John's 13 years older than me, but I'd bet he could eat my Clif Bars.

Then again, let's swap. I'll ride his 16-pound wonderbike and he can ride my 44-pound "Old School" commuter...

George Bush on a bicycle....Stick with the "12-Ounce Curls", Dumbya! Leave exercise to the REAL Deals!

2. Kerry rides a Serotta
I know somebody who had one -- he owned a bike shop -- and they are fabulous bikes but outrageously overpriced. But I guess when you got the bucks, you can spend them...

(In the intrest of full disclosure, I have a Kestrel that I bought in 1991 and a Ryan recumbant that I bought in 1994. And no thought of getting rid of either of them.)

9. Oh I think it depends on the 'bent. I have one of these

and feel safe in traffic. I usually get waves from people wondering what exactly I am riding. I would be more nervous on one of these

or these

because they appear to be lower to the ground. With my Bike E I am at window level to a car. I also try to get the driver's attention before crossing if I see that they want to turn because I don't want them turning without seeing me.

7. $9,000... Oh, Be Still My Heart.....Bush prolly wrecked a "Roadmaster"...
Edited on Sun May-23-04 10:07 AM by BiggJawn
...from Wally-World. $89.95, free assembly by an -untrained part-timer working off the clock.

Just the FRAMESET of that Serotta costs as much as a complete Trek "Madone"...

(in this "disclosure" spirit...I have a 70's vintage Fuji, two 80's vintage Schwinn's, a Norco Bush Pilot, a '66 Schwinn "Conti" and many, many more bikes...None worth more than $50...)
