Any dumb kids in your neighborhood ?
I hired the neighbors kid to cut my grass every 2 weeks for 20 bucks on payday. I have to go get him every time and say Are you going to cut the grass ? He says Do you want me too ? I tell him Look we made a deal. You cut the grass every two weeks and I give you twenty bucks. I'm not going to come and ask you to, you just do it. Yesterday when moving the pool he picked a baby rat that bit him. It was hiding under the pool. I thought great f*cking lawsuit or medical bill coming my way. His parents were cool. They said it was his own fault. They have insurance for when they took him to the ER. I got lucky on that one. Any dumb kids where you live ?

1. yes
some kid, roughly 8 years old flipped me off the other day. i was turning into my street, and he sat there in the middle of the street on his bike while i motioned for him to get out of the way. then he gives me this beligerent look after i honked at him so i could drive home. then he does a double flip off to show his friends that he's a tough guy. i just hope he doesn't get run over showing what a tough guy he is.

3. Have the parents met their medical deductible on their child?
If not, they might appreciate you covering that for them, even though it was a dumb mistake. A kid's "executive manager" isn't fully mature until ages 19-25, based on what I've read (Tarnow & Associates). The executive manager function in the prefrontal cortex simply isn't properly hard-wired to always make good decisions.

4. They told me it was his fault.

They said they would pay for it. They are good neighbors. We sit out there and drink beer on weekends and Henry on the corner has a giant smoker he fires up every weekend. He lives on the corner and puts it out in front of his house. Anybody can put any kind of meat they want on it every weekend. One time I watched him cook 16 whole briskets at once. Everybody pretty much gets along around here even though I am the only Dem. They look at my DemocraticUnderground.com bumpersticker in amazement. It is in the back window of my F150 truck so to make sure they cannot miss it.

6. Yup
Dumb kid about a mile or two away. Apparently he USED to ride his four wheeler on my property before I bought it. I have a gate up by the road with a posted sign on it now. The kid was riding around my Fields one time when I returned home from a short trip to the store and I had left the gate open. He was tearing up the hay, when he saw my truck he took off like a bat out of hell. About a week later I saw him back there again, this time I locked the gate before I came up the driveway. He took off up the driveway and of course couldn't get his toy out. Bummer kid. I told him he could have it back when he brought his Mom or Dad back to pick it up. I made him walk home (it did the lad some good as he is obese). His parents were cool about it when they saw the posted sign and heard he was destroying the hay. I haven't seen him since.

7. I think his parents were being nice
If he was performing a service for you, and in order to perform that service he had to move your pool, and while moving that pool he got bitten by a rat, I think that the right thing to do would be to cover the expenses, no matter how dumb you think he is.
