Erstad originally came up as a first baseman and they transplanted him to center. I think he's a better outfielder, too. Casey rocks.

He's hit well twice in his career. Yet he is worth keeping on the roster because he is one of the top 3 center fielders in baseball.

'Twas sheer stupidity for Scioscia to move him to first.

Kotchman is way better at first.

I will grant that the Cardinals are fortunate enough to be blessed with the best fans in American professional sports.

Seriously. Cubbies have GREAT pitching. But they have the WORST pitcher's manager in baseball. Leave Kerry Wood in too long? His arm falls off (it just did). Leave Mark Prior in too long? His arm falls off (in spring training, fer chrissakes). They also have no real lefthanded hitters.

I honestly thought, before this season, that Prior, Wood, and Zambrano (and maybe Clement) could have sub-3.00 ERAs -- and STILL finish around .500.

Cards and 'Stros are the teams to beat.

Of course, my Redlegs swept the 'Stros in 4 games this weekend... :evilgrin:

Goethe is almost impossible to translate. A few ballades were translated almost without loss, but I have yet to see a good translation of one of the more important works.

Conservative politicians on the board, conservative fans. Most "fans" have no connection to the club, the only important part for them is Bayern winning on a regular basis.
Their Stadium is empty most of the time, the "fans" only appear for "important" matches (even in the Champions League). If they are the away team however, the stadiums are filled: thousands of school kids want to tell their classmates the next day that "Their" team is better.

Not even Bavarians have a good excuse to cheer for them : 1860 is the true Munich club, Bayern is an upstart.
So, there is case to be made for Dortmund fans (Dortmund is a true old worker's club and the atmosphere at the Westpfahlen Stadion beats most Premier League matches .)


The Eintracht has a lot conservatives on the board, but most fans wear Che T-Shirts for the matches.

I saw Oliver Kahn pimp the American World squad and I've followed them ever since. I hqave FIFA 2004 on my PC so they and the Duetchland National club are my favorites. If I ever visit my ancesters in Duetchland when the BundsLiga is in season I'll try to catch a home match. I live near Cincinnati in the US, since I support the home team I'm used to cheering teams run by Fascist.:shrug:The good news is I'm also a New York Rangers hockey fan, so I back liberal backed teams.

Don't get me started on Kahn. He's probably the worst National Keeper Germany ever had - a disgrace (like most of the rest of the national squad - not quite as bad as reported , but still ... . To elaborate: the players get orders by their clubs not to hurt themselves. This is quite a scandal, but can't be helped. Hence the regular 5:1 defeats.)
Well, catch a Home Match anyway - there are liberal Bayern fans and after all enjoying the game is all that counts.
