What "coming attraction"/film are you looking forward to
I imagine a lot of people will say the concluding chapter of LOTR so I'm going to go with another movie based on great 20th century literature and that would be:

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World -

My dad got me into the Aubrey/Maturin books about two years ago and I am seriously stoked about seeing this film when it comes out just before Turkey Day. Just something about naval life in the early 19th century Napoleonic era that makes for good visuals and storytelling.

I learned from the writers. The OTHER guy doesn't wanna DO it. Whine whine, whine.

I'm upset about this.

6. Aubrey et al
My dh is soooo into that series that our son is named "Jack," for cryin' out loud. One year for my dh's birthday, I created a mini spoof O'Brian book, complete with its own colorful cover, I think it was called something like "Elevenses in the Foc'sle" or something like that. I wrote the book based on having read but a single chapter of one of the books, painstakingly adding random words from a dictionary of terms used in those books. The finest hour in the book is when an enemy 'wherry' is set afire.

Thanks for the note about the movie, now I know where to take my dh for his birthday December 6th!:-)

24. Know what? That inglesias family is pretty durned talented.. I expect
we'll see an impressive performance from Enrique.

While we may not LIKE the nicey nice songs he sings, he is a passionate, talented HOT young man. Let's cut him some slack; I mean Rodriguez didn't have to put him in the flick, right? He's got an eye for these things.

At least from the preview. I hope it doesn't suck as is so often the case when I think a movie looks good from the previews.

17. "Mystic River" - Dennis Lehane book directed by Clint Eastwood
I haven't seen a trailer, but I loved the book and it was filmed here in Boston. And, the author is my cousin's bro-in-law.

Also looking forward to the third Matrix installment. And "Jersey Girl," which may have been pushed up to next spring because that other ben&j-lo movie tanked so badly. But it's a Kevin Smith movie, so I HAVE TO see it.

21. THE SINGING DETECTIVE....ROTK, Kill Bill...
Edited on Thu Aug-21-03 03:54 PM by tjdee
Robert Downey, Jr. is going to ROCK. And SING. And MAKE ME DROOL.
"As a Chicago novelist (Downey) lays, bedridden and feverish with an extreme case of psioriasis, he reworks the story of his first novel, The Singing Detective, in his mind, becoming the title character himself, who's on pursuit of Nazis in the 1940's..."
http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hp&cf=prev&id=1808405894&intl=us

The novelist is heavily medicated and soon can't tell the difference between real and fake. I'm not sure how much musical it's going to be, but there are singing numbers. You know RDJ can act his pants off. Mel Gibson plays his psychiatrist. Plus, my sweet baby Adrien Brody has a bit part (pre-Oscar, you know). Here's the site, not too much yet, but BOY!
http://www.paramountclassics.com/singingdetective/

Return of the King goes without saying, I'm there the first night.

Kill Bill...I don't know why I like Quentin Tarantino. I just do. And girls kicking ass with swords, you know that rocks. Even if the "girls kicking ass" trend has crested and is on the way out.

Oh, and Once Upon a Time in Mexico. I never liked Antonio, but he is damn good looking, and damn cool, and what acting in Desperado. Gonna check out this last piece of the trilogy.

23. Excellent - my sister worked on that, either
as first or second assistant director, forget which. She got to hang out in Faux's cool water studio in Baja, then went to the Galapagos, then hung some more in San Diego where the boat they used lives. Got my nephew a job helping crew the boat after the shooting was done. She says itll be a good movie.

27. Here's mine (in order of release)
1. Once Upon A Time In Mexico (Desperado was KILLER!!!)

2. Matrix Revolutions (hope it's better than Reloaded)

3. Kill Bill (I'm a Tarantino fan, but I almost get the feeling from the previews that it could either be pretty good or really bad. I fear the latter.)

4. Star Wars Episode III
