I met another DU'er on the street this morning. |
|
I was walking to work, down Randolph Street, with my lap-top bag slung over my shoulder (the one with the "Peace" & "No Empire" buttons pinned to the strap) when I spied a young man walking in the opposite direction with a "I <heart> DU" button on is jacket lapel.
"Hey, are you a DU'er?", I asked, extending my hand.
"Sure am.", he replied, taking my hand and shaking it. "What year did you graduate?"
"Graduate? Whaddya mean?"
"Denver University. What year did you graduate?"
So I told him I meant democraticunderground.com, not Denver University. We both had a laugh and as we parted he said, "Well, I am a Democrat. I'll have to check out that site (meaning DU). We gotta get that idiot out of the White House."

Dontcha just love it when acronyms are the same...
Thats why I wish the World Wildlife Fund hadn't fought to be WWF and take it from wrestling. I'm sure that led to plenty of comic hijinx. :D

5. GOOD WORK!!!! I take it that you are in the Denver metro area?.... |
|
Well, here is another Denver resident, at least for another few months, who is also always pushing DU (democraticunderground). In fact, some of my next door neighbor's family was visiting over the 4th and they got a run down on DU and the URL for the site too, after we sat on the porch and ragged on Bush for a few minutes. By the time I was done the guy had a small legal pad page full of URL's to check out and learn from.

I suppose that if I was from Denver, I might have snapped to the DU button he wore sooner. And he wouldn't have acted so surprised when I asked him if he was a DU'er.

6. Wow. A Democrat at Denver University? |
|
I thought they were all snobbish republican trust-funded brats. But I'm biased, having to put up with their driving habits every day. I'm sure they are all very nice people deep down inside.

9. Can we sue The other DU? |
|
Just kidding. I met a lurker about a year ago at a Barnes&Nobles. I had on my Buzzflash t-shirt and he commented that he loved that site so I asked him about DU and he said he read it but didn't post. I don't know if he ever started.

10. I've seen a DU 2001 commercial license plate on a big van in Skokie. |
|
The van also has a big flag decal on it.

The fact that he's a dem and thinks Georgie's an idiot is synchronicity in the true Jungian sense. How cool. The Professor
