(on edit - question inserted)
I have noticed that they can be feisty and often hard to corral. They also hiss, bite and play dead in a very convincing manner. So where did you find the lil marsupial and what'd you do with 'em?

4. We Inadvertantly Tore Down Their Home, I Think |
|
We tore down an old, rotten, termite infested porch and a couple of days later, as we were cleaning up and starting to pour cement for the new deck pier placement, saw three li'l oppossums wandering around.
We never saw the mother or any other adult. Our next door neighbor, in whose tree Mom had nested with the babies, hadn't seen her for a couple of weeks.
And the cats and dogs had discovered them.
So we scooped them up and put them in a tub with metal critter mesh on the top and fed them, according to an article we saw online, crushed up dry cat food and-- Gatorade.
Three days later, one of the three was dead and Mary Cummins came to the rescue of the two survivors.

I think they are so sweet and so cute. :loveya: I live in a hillside area (of Los Angeles Co) and see them all the time. I leave food out for them and I recognize some of the regulars. Unfortunately though I live in rugged brushy area it is also just off a busy street and sometimes they get hit by cars, breaks my heart.
