as anyone involved in anything involving risk can tell you - any advantage you can have, you will take, any disadvantage that is avoidable, you will avoid.
and it's true, every bit helps. more than one company has capitulated to fear of boycotts and bad word of mouth. if it has worked before, it will work again. the world and human behavior doesn't change that much through the years.
