My house listed TODAY and last night, for the first time ever, one of my cats peed on the carpet in my office -- a girl cat -- but still, it's quite stinky. She's an older girl, and, well, it's just a funky odor. My fault entirely, I used to have a litter box in here but have consolidated the litter boxes to just one place so that anyone viewing the house doesn't trip over cat paraphernalia. She came into the office, no box, she had to pee badly, and so she let it rip right on the carpet.
So, the question now, is: what the heck can I do to eliminate this odor? I soaked up as much urine as I could with paper towels, I've got baking soda on it right now (plus some cinnamon); Lowe's carries a pet-odor-removal spray but I've also read about the wonders of some sort of vinegar mix.
Suggestions please!

that destroy the odor. I do not rmember the name, as cat pee is my wife's concern, but we get it at the vacuum-cleaner sales & repair shop, along with other cleaning agents.
Hope this helps

|
Wicked expensive, too, like $15 for a quart. But it works.

4. Same question, except for puppy pee. |
|
Advice will be greatly appreciated. (I don't have a petsmart here, so I need something available at Lowes or at Walmart. Thanks!)

5. Febreze has worked for me |
|
My cat pees in the laundry hamper when he wants to send a message that he's upset about something. In the past I've put the clothes through multiple washes and a shirt seems okay afterward until I wear it and start to perspire. Then the kitty urine odor comes out. But since I've been using Frebreze, the clothes come out fresh as daisies after one wash and no urine smell when I'm wearing them.

For cat pee the best stuff around is FON Feline Odor Neutralizer. I believe it's available at the vet's. It's expensive but worth it.
For dog pee get Petzyme from PetsMart. It's excellent. It the reason one of my whippets still lives. He has seperation anxiety and even being on clomicalm he still revenge pees in the house sometimes. We buy Petzyme by the gallon container and use it copiously. Good stuff. People coming into our house can't believe that we have 6 dogs.

you have spray/soaked the carpet AND pad with WHITE vinegar, and let it sit for a while. The pee odor will be destroyed, and the vinegar smell will go away when it evaporates. CHECK the carpet first, to make sure it does not stain. I have tried everything, vinegar worked best, and is cheapest.

11. Hartz makes great stuff... |
|
Damn cat peed on my mattress. I dragged it out into the sun, covered it with vinegar, baking soda, enzymes, etc. Still stank.
Finally got stuff (dont' remember the exact name) from the Hartz shelf at the supermarket, not *that* expensive, maybe $7, and it worked beautifully. No smell whatsoever.
Try it!!

...and couldn't get up on her own, peed when I tried to pick her up to take her to the vet. She was so ashamed of herself because she'd never done that before.
I tried vinegar, lysol, and febreeze and they just didn't work--even a few weeks after I'd had to have the baby dog put down, I could still smell her pee, despite scrubbing and scouring it every night. I finally covered the spot with a throw rug and left it until I could afford something from the vet's office to remove it.

You can get it at PetSmart or SuperPetz. It's an enzymatic cleaner. The directions are simple. Make sure you use it first, before trying any other cleaners or chemicals, as the enzymes may not be able to get through the cleaners to the true cause of the odors. It's a bit expensive, but worth it.

only way to completely get rid of cat piss stink...
Are you gonna have to list this on the disclosure form, so the buyers can't come back on you some humid rainy day when things get damp and the carpet starts smelling again?

Nature's Miracle works very well. I should know with 10 cats. Many pet stores carry it and you can also order it online (google the name).

fallowed by a paste of baking soda and vinegar. Let dry completely pick up the big chunks then vacuum. If you have a very white or light coloured carpet use White vintager. I like apple helps cut the odor faster but only best for darker coloured carpets.

19. "Nature's Miracle" or "Simple Solution" |
|
those are the 2 that I can personally guarantee that work. Either one is fine to get.
They have enzymes in them that eat away the pee odor and pee stain.
A pet store like "PetSmart" will carry them, and if you don't need a whole gallon, you can just buy a smaller spray bottle at the store.
It is clear and waterlike with no yucky vinegar smell. No smell at all really.
It will work.
