Poll question: So, what do you look for at Garage Sales?
Call them yard sales, garage sales, rummage sales, what have you, the weekend and warm weather means GARAGE SALES.

Me, I hunt tools and books. Today I got a very nice, somewhat vintage creeper to use when under the car. I was also fortunate to find a nice 48" wooden level with gold trim and brass edging.

How about you - what do you hunt?

1. Nothing
I have enough 'stuff' already. But, I think they're a good way to stretch a buck if you really need something. :)

4. The "Clean Sweep" crew. With a shotgun.
Honestly, how many marriages do you think that show has destroyed?

"You sold my mother's jewelry for HOW much?!!"

7. The other day I got a drill press for 1$
It belonged to "Harry", there was no price on it and since Harry wasn't home (much laughter at that statement for whatever reason ) she said how about a dollar. Not knowing at the time if it was operational I gave her 2$. It worked fine, and Harry is probably ready for divorce court - if he wasn't already (source of the giggles?).

10. Never actually found one worth buying.

I don't scour the sales, I just take a look-see if I happen to pass by.

On edit: I found a Fender Twin Reverb once for $50. I didn't have cash. I didn't have my checkbook. I went to the ATM. When I got back, it was gone.

13. Hey! Stay away from my damn tools!!!!!!
actually -- I'll leave the mechanics', metalworking, and power stuff for you if you save all the woodworking hand tools for me, okay?

I have a nearly completely-equipped hand tool workshop, acquired for pennies and financed by reselling stuff to collectors. Best score -- this

handsaw -- A guy in West Allis sold it to me for a buck, I cleaned off the grime which revealed it was a rare model with a custom etch ("Milwaukee Public Schools") dating from c.1900. Some guy on eBay paid about $270 for the thing.

Collectors. God Bless 'em.

16. sweet
you should check out farm auction sales in SE Minnesota sometime. Lots of nice hand tools. They don't sell cheap, but not outrageous either. At auction I buy the boxes of crap - under the wire and nails and stuff I have found some excellent hand tools.

17. The city wide garage sale is this weekend
As my wife was getting things ready for our sale I looked at what she was getting ready and she had a handfull of used panties, I'll have to see if anyone buys them.

18. Mainly household items -- clothing second -- decorative stuff third
Just looking around me in my workroom for stuff I got at yard sales, I see a CD organizer, an old record cabinet with the legs missing that has my computer on it, a desk lamp, a Sony Walkman, a coaster, a neat little clay pot holding my pens and pencils, a plastic desk tray, a small wooden plant stand and the two pots that are in it, a really big plant stand, a wooden desk tray, a plastic set of drawers for holding papers, some more pots for plants, a wall-hanging display case, a decorative bowl, a shell, a chair, another small plant stand, a cat castle, a bookcase, another decorative bowl, a vase, and a cypress knee. And probably some of my clothing.

My favorite yard sale adventure was the summer before my first child was born, when my husband and I bought a crib on a 90-degree day and brought it home in our VW beetle. I still can't quite believe we really did it.
