Any DUers with RLS?

1. My friend has never been diagnosed, but his symptoms definitely match..

.. and it gets quite severe. Quite a few times he has woken up in the middle of the night yelping in pain because of cramps/spasms in his leg.

He's tried lots of things, including: frequent excercise/stretching; diet modifications (adjusting potassium intake, sodium, etc.), etc.

Honestly, the only thing he ever found that worked was marijuana, which I helped him discovered partially by accident. I had heard on a radio show that marijuana seemed to be effective in treating restless foot syndrome, and then thought about his condition and he recognized a paralel between periods of his life where he used/didn't use marijuana and the periods where his (undiagnosed) rls kicked up.

Of course, this may not even fall under your "other than pharmaceuticals" requests, and there are lots of drawbacks, either way... not the least of which is that it's illegal in most states and only borderline legal at best in others.

2. I have it but did not realize

that it was a legitimate condition, I usually just move my leg because that takes the edge off.
