I Give You A Testimonial, THE MC5!!!

"Brothers and Sisters
I wanna see a sea of hands out there.
Let me see a sea of hands.
I want everybody to kick up some noise.
I wanna hear some revolution out there, brothers
I wanna hear a little revolution.
Brothers and sisters, the time has come
For each and every one of you to decide
Whether you are gonna be the problem,
Or whether you are gonna be the solution.
You must choose, brothers, you must choose.
It takes 5 seconds, 5 seconds of decision.
Five seconds to realize that it's time to move.
It's time to get down with it.
Brothers, it's time to testify and I want to know,
Are you ready to testify?
Are you ready?
I GIVE YOU A TESTIMONIAL, THE MC5 !!!!"

"Right now, right now, it's time to, it's time to, KICK OUT THE JAMS, MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!

Yeah! I, I, I, I, I'm gonna
I'm gonna kick 'em out ! Yeah !
Well i feel pretty good
And i guess that i could get crazy now baby
Cause we all got in tune
And when the dressing room got hazy now baby

I know how you want it child
Hot, quick and tight
The girls can't stand it
When you're doin'it right
Let me up on the stand
And let me kick out the jam
Yes, kick out the jams
I want to kick'em out !

Yes i'm starting to sweat
You know my shirt's all wet
What a feeling
In the sound that abounds
And resounds and rebounds off the ceiling

You gotta have it baby
You can't do without
When you get that feeling
You gotta sock'em out
Put that mike in my hand
And let me kick out the jam
Yes ! Kick out the jams
I want to kick'em out
( guitar )

So you got to give it up
You know you can't get enough Miss Mackenzie
Cause it gets in your brain
It drives you insane
With the frenzy

The wigglin guitars girl
The crash of the drums
Make you wanna keep-a-rockin'
Till the morning comes

Let me be who i am
And let me kick out the jam
Yes, kick out the jams
I done kicked em out !!!"

1. Testify!
I love the 5. That is one of the all-time great albums. We interviewed Wayne Kramer about nine years ago, right when he signed with Epitaph. Really cool guy to talk to - he spent tons of time with us nobodies.

2. Oh, Thank You
I was in my teens when that came out and my band even played (not very well) "Ramblin' Rose" and "Kick Out The Jams."

I heard that Wayne Kramer is a very intelligent guy (I hope he hasn't died and I didn't hear about it).

I'm glad the MC5 are not forgotten or unknown by all. :)

3. No, Wayne is most definitely still alive
However, Rob Tyner and Fred "Sonic" Smith have both passed away. :( They really were an amazing band.

4. speaking of that, who was the first rock or pop star to use the word . .
"fuck" in a song . . . "Kick Out The Jams" and Nilsson's "Your Breaking My Heart" are the two that come to mind for me . . .

7. I didn't hear MC5 for a while after it was released...
...so the first one *I* heard was on Jefferson Airplane's "Volunteers," on the song "We Can be Together."

Shocked the heck out of my Hoosier schoolboy sensibilities. :)
