1. Fear, uncertainty, and the waiting void of the unknown. |
|
All of a sudden, come next fall, your life will change drastically and in ways you can't predict. Throughout high school (and probably before that) things have been pretty stable, probably...mostly the same friends, same routine, a predictable life. Safe. A known quantity., But come next fall you'll be stepping out into the great unknown. Off to college, quite possibly somewhere you've never been. Somewhere you don't know anyone, where you're a stranger and outsider. You'll have to start from scratch. And it scares you. Which is really only natural. But don't worry too much...things will probably be fine.

My daughter graduates High School in a few weeks. I can see the uncertainty in her.
But Poppa will be there for her.

4. I must be the only graduating senior who's calm about it. |
|
I watched my girlfriend go through the same thing you're going through last year. She was having panic attacks the last couple months of school, and all through the summer. It's my time now, and the most I ever feel is a little apprehensive, but mostly just F'ing relieved. I hated the conformist attitude of high school. Now on to the elitist attitude of higher education.
