Would you install Windows XP on the following PC/conditions: |

No Linux or Macs advice please...
H/W Specs:
Celeron 1.7GHz processor. 256MB RAM 40GB hard drive Entry level video card w/32mb video ram no sound Has Windows 2000 Pro OS already
Uses:
Web browsing Word processing Simple Flash animations
Yes or no? Would you spend the money for a OS upgrade?

Money doesn't grow in trees, you know. Besides, that product-activation XP has is the spawn of Satan, You'll be unable to transfer the OS to a new computer in the future without Microsoft's amen.

Win 2000 Pro is absolutely adequate. XP is basically Win NT with a prettier GUI. Although if your organization does decide to shell out for XP, you will likely want to disable a lot of the system services XP has active by default and perhaps turn off some of the eye-candy to make the GUI more responsive.
