"Any 1 else listeing to Stern right now?" I have a few gen. questions. |
|
Does all this this Mel Karazmin,Sumner Redstone stuff really mean anything?
Am I too dumb to realize the implications?
Is it just Sumner Redstone flexing?
Is it just some back room media/FCC power shifting?
If Howad leaves, can he revolutionize Satellite radio?
Is Howard just neurotic and milking this "they got me on the run" mentality?
How much does Howard's "not being on in Florida" help Dems?
Is Howard too into Howard?

This is from Yahoo News: "Howard Stern Says Radio Days 'Numbered'"LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Shock jock Howard Stern, given to frequent on-air fits of desperation and rage, said on Tuesday his radio days are "really numbered" with the abrupt resignation of his chief benefactor, Mel Karmazin, as president of Viacom Inc. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1896&ncid=1896&e=5&u=/nm/20040602/us_nm/media_viacom_stern_dc

While the content of his show has been severely curtailed, his ratings are at the highest they've been in years. His new Democratic turn has won a number of converts. For example, Lou Reed, who once despised Stern, sent Howard a letter thanking him for his support (remember, Walk on the Wild Side was yanked from radio for being "obscene"). It really seems that the show has a sharper focus in light of his Clear Channel firing. Infinity is reaping the benefits. If anything, he'll retire when his contract is up next year.
