HS Graduation quote?
I'd like to comb the great minds here at DU for something to inscribe a graduation gift for an exceptional young woman.

I'm giving her "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" by Dr. Seuss; a pewter 1/8th moon-shaped bookmark engraved with, "There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it. --Edith Wharton; and a moneyholder card that says, "Glow for It...Follow your star! Happy Graduation."

Any suggestions for a quote for the book? This gifted woman will be starting college in the fall and has brought essential joy into my family's life. It will be devastating for us when she moves 3000 miles away. We've known each other for almost 15 years. She has decided to major in child psychology and has the heart of a saint.

She is one of only two nondisabled, natural friendships my daughter (who has severe multiple disabilities) has experienced in her 20+ years. For the past 2 years, she has been helping me care of my daughter's personal needs, as well as continuing to keep my age-appropriateness in check and going out together to plays, concerts, etc.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you.

1. First one that came to my mind
Is the timeless quote by Winston Churchill: “Never, Never, Never give up!”

It might not say all that you want your quote to say, but it is apt. The quote isn't relative to the struggle of World War 2, but is the entire speech that he gave at a prep school.

I've heard that he was drunk, and apparently thats all he could come up with at the time. Go figure.

2. Give her a beer stein with the inscription: start slow, then taper off

But have it inscribed at the bottom of the stein. Put something cheerily optimistic on the top.
