Would you say that you are a forgiving person? |
|
Or do you not "forgive and forget"?

1. I have forgiven much - infidelity, sexual abuse, |
|
but I have no persepective when it comes to the Bush pResidency and anyone who has facilitated it. I have no forgiveness for Republicans in general and don't see that ever changing.

3. That's not going to happen, Whitacre. I just don't piss people off. |

It's a talent, what can I say. :P

That's not due to a stellar personality though. It's more a function of a bad memory. I simply forget who I'm supposed to be angry with and why. :)

I forgive but it usually involves a change in my attitude toward the person, depending on how big a thing it is. I don't "sweat the small stuff".

I can't forget things, even if I would like to. If someone has done me wrong, I'll always be more guarded with them.

8. No way....life is to short to waste on people who f*ck you over... |
|
..I firmly believe that. I've got precious little time as it is, I want to spend that time with people who have earned my trust and my love and my time. If I "forgive and forget" than the lines blur. I always remember. Always.

9. The best lesson to learn about forgiveness is.... |
|
when you yourself do something stupid and need forgiveness. It's amazing how forgiving you can be after that.
Been there, done that. I am extremely hesitant to judge people and quick to forgive. Do as you would have done unto you.

I have forgiven much, but it takes me a loooong time. I tend to hold grudges and indulge in enmity.

It takes alot to make me trust someone again after they have broken my faith in them.
I'll forgive them right away - that just means that they are safe from any .... retribution. But forgetting is another thing altogether.

13. Just a general question. Although, if I've done wrong to anyone here... |
|
I hope they will forgive me.

I have no time to hold grudges, but I do remember if someone screws me over. I learned a few years ago that even the people I thought were my best friends did some shit behind my back. I still hang with them, but they know I remember what they did.

19. I forgive as an act of will. It's not easy. |
|
I have to forgive my father frequently, not because I continue to allow him to hurt me, but because old pain creeps up and makes me resent him or hate him again, and I have to remember that I have forgiven him.
I don't preach forgiveness but I'm not shy about telling that it changed my life. I couldn't have healed or grown without it.
I forgave the three men who abused me sexually, and my mother, who beat me (verbally and literally), and left me at age 11. I forgave my first lover, who destroyed what little trust I had left by age 18 and ripped my soul to shreds.
I'm still working on the hardest one. Don't know if I'll ever forgive myself for this & that.
