Poll question: Cat picture poll (for Jen6)
I'm posting this for Jen as she just lost her polling ability (funds are tight at the moment).

Help Jen decide which photo to choose (Great shots Jen!):

Help me choose a cat pic for SPCA benefit contest-

Our local chapter of the SPCA is having a photo contest to raise funds for their animal shelter. One of the categories is "most photogenic feline." The winning photograph will be selected through donations; visitors to a pet fair will donate money for their favorite photo, and the one that earns the most donations for the shelter wins. I would like to enter one or two photos, but I can't decide which ones! Please vote for the one you feel would earn the most $$ for the SPCA. Thanks!
(Note: photos are roughly the same size, they were just uploaded at random sizes)

A.)

B.)

3. Yeah - Oberon is a cutie!
and extremely photogenic! Of course I may be a bit biased as he's my "god-child" ;-) . Puck (photo "E") is a cutie too though ;-) .

Thanks for voting!

10. Hehe..he was falling asleep in that photo
he may have even been asleep! (he sometimes can snooze with his eyes open). He had been playing with Puck all morning, and I started brushing him to get those "post play" knots out. He just rolled over and zoned out (he almost always sleeps in this position, lol!)

11. Kick
This has to be the first cat thread in months that is falling like a stone within minutes of being kicked...and it's for charity, no less!

The pic you vote for could earn enough $$ to feed a homeless cat or dog for weeks; please help us chose a winning photo!

13. Maybe it's because
everyone knows I'm really a dog person and since I posted it, it seems disingenuous ;-) But really, I love your babies! :-) I challenge other dog people to vote in the poll!

But so my babies won't feel left out ;-):

That photo of Boris in the tub is just too cute! :loveya: and that's some remarkable "air Tasha" action too! Wow! She really has the hang of the Frisbee thing! I still think she would do incredibly well at a competitive dog trial. ;-)

15. She would be great at
agility. She's so smart and so fast, but her mom is too lazy to drive to a place where she could practice. She'll have to settle for being a Frisbee show off for now :-)

20. It's too bad you don't have a really cool kid in the
neighborhood who could train her for agility. BCs never seem to be able to get too much exercise, lol!

I swear, if Puck were reincarnated as a dog, she would come back as Tasha. They really are kindred spirits!

18. He's a Maine Coon
They have large, Elizabethan collar-like ruffs, long fur on their bellies and "britches", and great fluffy tails. Puck, pictured in photo E, is a Turkish Angora. She'll have a similar coat (though not quite as long) in about a year.

Puck harassing Oberon-one of her favorite activities!

I love my Maine Coon mix Mr. Rum Tum Tugger(Yes from the musical). He's huge, loveable and a big chicken! He's also a very effective hunter. I recieved a headless mouse for Mothers Day. Woohoo, he loves me!

(Oberon isn't this big-yet).

Do you have any photos of Mr. Rum Tum Tugger that you can share? I think the vast majority of Maine Coons are lovable but wussy pussies. Obie is a big chicken too, but very devoted. Puck is so delicate looking by comparison, but she's the Errol Flynn fearless adventurer of the household, lol!

34. I thought his eyes were green
kind of hard to tell in the photo. Your kitty and mine would look great side by side; two silver cats, one with bright green eyes and the other with copper orange. :-)

Oberon is great at suckering mom for treats too. It made it very easy to clicker train him. He sits up, gives a high five, comes when called, etc. I'm sure your cat would pick it up just as quickly. Check out www.clickertraining.com if you are interested (the cats think it's great fun!)

29. My mom had a twenty-six pound orange cat.
We bought a cheap, cardboard kitty carrier for the trip to the vet. It wasn't big enough, but the cat was mellow and willingly let himself be poured into the carrier. He came out with difficulty and was still shaped like a square! All the vet staff had to come and look at him.

35. B is noble and majestic
So it got my vote. My aunt had a Maine Coon and it got pissed at us because we went out to dinner and left it alone too long. So it left us a little deposit directly at the threshold of the front door--where I was the first to enter, having taken off my shoes, of course! I nailed it barefoot!! Then the cat went into hiding because it knew I was after it with the hair clippers and ready to deliver a huge slice of counter-humiliation. I never had the heart to go thru with it though!

I got my cat, Miss Patty, and the San Francisco SPCA, where the animals are never euthanised and they live in little condos with fish tanks, voluteers to play with them, and the radio and TV going all the time. I felt like it was a step down when I brought her home! And I thought I was getting a mutt--black short-haired mix, a little chubby and very mellow. Turned out, she's a Bombay--has anyone else ever had one? They're like freaking barnacles! You're barely in the chair, and they're already pacing around your lap settling in. At night, they'll sleep on your chest--or on your hip, if you lay on your side--and they constantly need human companionship. I had doubt about the species until I got her. She's turned me around from being an exclusive dog person, now she's an essential part of my family.

Funny how they're able to do that, isn't it????

40. I think I saw a show about that SPCA on PBS
really impressive, because it's turned SF into a "no kill" city!

I've read about Bombay's. They are similar in temperament to Siamese, Turkish Angoras, Orientals, and Somalis. Cats from that region of the world are very often "velcro kitties". I was also strictly a dog person, until I took home a half Turkish Angora kitten that couldn't be placed by a friend whose show cat had gotten herself knocked up. His name was Peewee, and he was the most beloved of all my pets (he passed away in August). I decided to get another TA (Puck-pictured in E), and got Oberon as a companion for her, because Maine Coons have a calming effect on other pets, and TAs are VERY active. Is Miss Patty also a spitfire, or is she old enough to be a bit more settled?
