Best KARAOKE Song?...
For me it's "I've Never Been To Me". (Hey Lady. You Lady.)

I LOVE to sing karaoke... But... WHY DO THEY TITTER SO?

I sound MUCH better---to myself--when I've had just a little bit to drink.

1. I Love Charlene
I do that song a lot too. I particularly like the spoken word part. I really over emote!

I also do Constant Craving by kd lang, Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper and Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benetar (as well as many others one-offs, too numerous to mention)

"I've been to paradise.........but I've never been to me"

2. Y M C A
Especially at straight bars - the sight of people finally reading the words and realizing what the song's about is hysterical.

At gay bars, people roll their eyes, but they're secretly smiling inside. It's fun!

My personal favorite to sing is "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word," or "Sweet Caroline". "Tainted Love" is another good one...

3. Probably the most popular is "My Way,"
ironically, sung by pencil pushers who have to do everything the boss's way, but hey, that's America.

I personally love to sing Van Morrison songs--"Moondance" usually works. "Domino" is also good. "Brown Eyed Girl" got overplayed on the radio, so it lost some of its appeal for me.

If it's a high energy night, you can't go wrong with "Shout" (you know it makes me want to SHOUT, throw my hands up SHOUT kick my heels up and SHOUT Hey yea yey oh!) but it takes some decent pipes to pull that one off.

Fortunately, I've got 'em, hehehe . . .

That song is about 5 verses too long.

4. "Summer Nights" from 'Grease' is a good one for group karaoke.
At the place where I used to hang out, the karaoke host would announce last call for alcohol, and then sing Semi-Sonic's "Closing Time". That was a lot of fun.

5. Another Good One Is: These Boots Were Made For Walking
You keep lying, when you oughta be truthin'
and you keep loosin' when you oughta not bet
you keep samein' when you oughta be changin'
now what's right is right, but you ain't been right yet

6. To sing or to listen to?
I personally love it when someone does a great job w/ "Just a Gigolo"

But when I get up to sing, as I do every Friday night, my favorites include:

"Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane
"Edge of Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks
"Lovefool" by The Cardigans
"No Place That Far" by Sara Evans

and
"Diamonds and Rust" by Joan Baez
