Saw Bowling for Columbine last night
first of it may seem petty but if anyone knows Mr Moore could they advise him to go on a diet. For the sake of his health, it would be a shame to lose that brilliant man.

Second I really enjoyed the documentary. He didnt come off as knowing the answers to all the questions he posed. And he did try to make some connections that made no sense but ill let that slide. Ive always thought that having guns itself was not the problem, but the American psyche. Sure not giving away guns at banks, and letting any old idiot shimmy into a gun show and leave with a small arsenal would help, but this country sure has a problem with resolving issues in a peaceful manner. All in all I would recommend it to anyone, it will surely make you think.

One of my favorite parts of the movie was when he was interviewing the far right, half insane (arent they all) brother of Terry Nichols. Moore asked him if the 2nd amendment should be limited to prohibit nuclear weapons in the hands of private individuals. Nichols said yes because "there are some whackos out there". The irony was too much.

1. Nichols also didn't know who Ghandi was
That was really shocking.

10. That is an EXCELLENT book! I've read it a couple of times.
It is a must for anyone with half a brain who cares about our brothers and sisters.

3. Are you reading my mind? I was just about to put up this thread.
This movie rattled me to the core. I had to STOP watching, twice, because I was so affected. I don't think he tried to make silly connections. I think it was about pointing out the irony of certain situations. Is surrounding children with popular culture more dangerous than surrounding them with the tools of military destruction?

He never blamed the guns for anything. He questioned the culture and the people of this country.

I also think the pro NRA people should stop bitchin about 'poor ole Chuck Heston'. First of all, HE DID go and speak at those towns when he was asked not to. He DID use the tired old "cold dead hands" line. He WAS the SPOKESMAN for the NRA. If you can't hack it, or too enfeebled, STEP the hell down.

Just my thoughts.

8. What I thought was silly
was saying that unemployemnt in Europe and Canada was higher than in the US therefore poverty wasnt a factor in gun violence. He either forgot or decided to ignore the strong safety net that other Western nations have compared to ours. An American can work fulltime 40-50 hours a week and still struggle to survive. I dont think the poverty levels in those countries are anything close to ours.

7. I like how he made the whole NRA thing less about rights than money
I guarantee that if every family in this country had ONE gun, the gun lobby would go broke.
