Poll question: Szavazás: A kedvenc magyar
When Nobel Laureate Enrico Fermi was asked if he believed in extraterrestrials, he replied, "They are already here...they are called Hungarians!"

There are just too many Magyars to choose from. Here is but a sample.

1. Now this is a poll my bother-in-law would like!
Unfortunately, he is a Magyar who's a diehard freep.
I can not understand why, because he fled Hungary after the 1956 revolt.
I voted for Bela Bartok, because he spent one summer (1944) in my hometown.

3. Some of those fifty-sixers
can be as diehard anti-Communist as the Cuban emigres. It blinds them to practically everything else.

5. Favorite living Hungarian: George Soros
Favorite dead Hungarian: Bela Bartok, especially for collecting all those marvelous folk songs.

I had to sing one once. I can't remember the correct spelling, but phoneticaly, it went:

See-var va-nosh awz eg awl-ya
Chem yol va-nawg fe-yem awl-ya choo-ha-ya
Jere-baw-bawm ee-ga-zeecht-meg
Fy-aw see-vem vigash tawld-meg choo-ha-ya and so on.

We had to perform this on stage in costume, and it took us forever to learn these words, because Hungarian is totally unrelated to any other European languages except Finnish and Estonian, and it's not even a lot like them. We were walking around backstage muttering at note cards immediately before going on.
