Quick dumb bicycle question |
|
My son is getting new tires on his bicycle, and I get to put them on. My question is regarding a chevron tread pattern and which direction they should go? I have no problem installing them but I've never seen a directional pattern (in fact, my childhood tires were generally bald). Thank you in advance.

2. Actually!!! (Mountain Bike Nerd alert) |

I use two different patterns, and I put the back one on backwards for better traction while climbing in dirt!
front ->-> back <-<-
But, that's really overkill!!!

3. I didn't want this to be hard |

My son is only eight and the only hill he knows of is out front of the house where the maple tree pushed up the sidewalk. Now, the dumb question; is this pattern where the tire meets the road or simply looking down at it? Eight year olds need to be hip.

4. your confusing yourself with that question |
|
the arrows should point forward as you look down at the wheel over the handle bars in riding position.
think of them as car tires, with the water being wicked away to the sides to prevent hydroplaning

Wish the tires did have a rotation indicator, but we are going with your advise, and besides, it simply "looks" wicked cool to an eight year old and that's what really counts. Thank you...
