I think something's wrong with me, more than the usual. What could this be? |
|
For some time, I've had troubles with periodic spasms, my waist would "jump" that would send a ripple effect throughout the left side of my body, causing my left leg and sometimes left arm and left eyelid to spasm or momentarily twitch. This comes and goes.
Recently, I noticed, I am consistently fatigued.
I've just noticed something new and frightening: While I have troubles speaking as it is, I'm noticing I'm slightly mispronouncing words so I have to repeat myself. This is freaky. Maybe it's because of the fatigue, I don't know.
Thx.

Perhaps you should see a doctor. Are you on any meds? They can have some messed up side effects.
Hey, since we're on the subject of assorted maladies I'm hijacking your thread to complain of dizziness when I stand up. Yeah, I know: Don't do that then....

2. I used to be on wellbutrin. |
|
But then the spasm problem started. I went off the drug. 2 years later it came back on its own, albeit slightly. I tried wellbutrin again and it made things worse; I went off of it straight away.
What bugs me is that I haven't had the spasming all day, (though I've been sleeping through half of it)... I was doing it quite often the last 2 days.

6. Definitely see a professional. |
|
It could be serious. Strange place for a spasm, IMHO.

maybe get a referal to a neurologist if you're having "spasms" coupled with slurred speech.

what you describe could be any number of things and, not knowing an extensive medical history, DU ain't gonna provide the best of diagnoses. It sounds, however, that there is the very real possibility that this could be a serious matter. Parkinsons and MS come to mind, but again not knowing history these are only guesses. Go ASAP, it's better to catch something early for treatment and, if nothing else, it can put your mind at ease. To reiterate, see a doctor.

7. TIAs or Transient Ischemic Attacks. see A Doctor! |
|
You could be having TIAs or "mini strokes". A cluster of Transient Ischemic attacks is often the warning lead-in or prodrome to a major stroke. SEE YOUR DOCTOR. NOW!
TIAs are often nistaken for "just a headache" or simple fatigue but they can be lifesavers if you seek medical attention before the major "blow out" happens.
Symptoms include some of all of the below, but any one might not be present in attacks. TIAs are sneaky lil bastards! :)
Headache Blurred vision in one or both eyes. Sudden inability to spell or think of a normal word or name. Slurring of speech or inability to speak. Weakness, numbness, tingling in arm and/or leg on one side Dropping things Stumbling Foot drop or "dragging" the leg on one side. Drooping of facial features on one side. Drooling from the corner of the mouth on one side.
As an example, my father, when he had one of his TIAs was speaking to me and said "We need to change the.... change the.... Sha... Shaaah... Huh?" and pointed upward toward the burnt out light fixture. he then dropped the lightbulb he was holding and could not lift his other hand. He limped to a chair. An hour later he was "ok", but we insisted he see the doctor. He was put on blood thinners which saved him several years of life.
Please see a doctor!
