my uncle is finally back from desert-hell... |
|
Edited on Sat Jun-12-04 11:26 PM by LastKnight
but not the way he left... he left a supporter of the war and the administration that created it... after being there a few weeks he started to change his positions.
he once wrote back to my aunt and said "we run escorts all the time, and the only thing we see leaving the country isn't ambulances with wounded, but tanker trucks with a big 'H' on the side of them..."
that quote made me kinda proud of him... I'm not sure if he supports bush now or not, but he is now very against this evil war of imperialistic oil ventures, and I'm glad him and his whole reserve company sees it.
when he was deployed we were told it would be no more than a 3 months... then it was changed to 6 months... then to 8, then to a year... and now, 15 months after he left... hes home. all in all they told us he was coming back 6 times, and 5 of em were obviously lies...
a bout with the 24 hour flu saved his life, (he was supposed to be the lead truck out on duty one day... and that truck never came back.) he spent April in fallujah (sp?) during the uprising... he was on convoy escort duty the day they caught Saddam, he was only about 2 miles away... hes been around, and today hes a different person we said goodbye to.
welcome home Uncle J.

It must have been a hard deal he went through over there. Let's hope we'll be bringing a lot more of them home soon. Like all of them.

I just hope that you can convince him that John Kerry would really understand his plight, as well as others there and returning, and would be more responsible with our precious human resources. Vote for Kerry!

back to "normal" life. It sounds like it can be tough sometimes. Remind him to get whatever help he can if he needs it.

wierd story about the stomach flu..........my Father was Naval Aviation and had several wierd things happen that saved his life. I suspect the enormity of those things will catch up with him some day, but for now, I'm sure he's just glad that nobody is shooting at him.
Please thank him for his service for me.

but im not anti-troop... and i am pretty damn proud of him.
and now... im just concearened that he will be cast aside like the veterans of vietnam were... weather your for or against the war... you shouldnt ever forget about those who went and fought, its not thier fault thier number was called...
i think im gonna send him a kerry bumpersticker anonimously through the mail and maybe some info about kerry... see where it leads...

10. You do that Knight, its a good idea |

My future father in law served two terms in Vietnam and served the rest of his career in the military. His benefits are virtually non-esistant. His pension would not support a house pet. Being against a war is never being against the troops. Iraq is a perfect example; even the top commanders didn't want this war, they support the troops.
Why do we never hear Limbaugh and Hannity saying that the Joint Chiefs of Staff don't support the troops?
