Hummer advice
I see lots of these damn things on the roads. What can we do to get them off the roads? Apart from raising gas prices?

Sorry, not that type of hummer. O8)

1. Pass laws that take away the tax writeoffs for buying one
That would be a good start

9. Yep, gas-guzzler tax for Hummers and other big SUV's
and tax writeoffs for economy cars. It's so freaking simple. If this weren't the fascist states of America it'd be federal law.

2. Let's make sure all Hummer owners have their oil changed, tires
inflated to the proper point, and tune-ups to get the maximum fuel efficiency! LOL

3. The Gas Prices Will Be Enough
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 06:00 PM by AndyTiedye
Yeah, the people who own those things can afford it, but they're cheap.
I still see Hummers around here, but they're all sitting in driveways rusting.

Has anybody tried an electric conversion on one of those?
It would hold a bunch of batteries.
There'll probably be a bunch of slightly-used Hummers
for sale cheap in a year or two.

6. I agree....
Isn't it funny, they have money to buy the vechicle. Yet they won't spend the money to fuel it up..

15. I heard a radio ad advertising affordable leases
They were leasing hummers for $650 per month which isn't cheap but isn't really too far out of range for a middle class person who would want one. If they are just barely affording that payment though, they will have difficulty taking their vehichle very far and might want to consider a different family vehichle.

4. I was nearly killed by a Hummer last week
It took out my 2001 Altima like it was a tin can.

I'm lucky to be alive.

They should be banned from the road, mainly because they are too wide for the street, not to mention the MPG.

8. Hummers were designed to fit in a European train tunnel,
not a city street.

5. I think Hummer's will go the way of Deloreons
First there fuel hogs and second i think the owners of them will get tired of being mocked. The new H2 is basically a chevy tahoe with different body parts on it, i don't know if most h2 owners even know that.

They'll cluster around the feeder and dive-bomb it.

13. You have to have some real inadequacy issues to own a Hummer.
Maybe if they went to get some therapy there would be less Hummers.

14. I Predict a Rash of Hummer Self-Destructions Soon
Unlike its military counterpart, the Hummer rests on the same frame as a Chevy Tahoe. Considering that the Tahoe weighs 5,050 lbs. while the Hummer weighs 8,500 lbs., the frame won't hold up for very long. Imagine the surprise awaiting these weekend 'dirt devils' who take their Hummers out mudding!

19. and I thought you meant (very-well-insured) Hummers self-immolating
We'll probably see a lot of that too.
Hopefully some of the guilty parties will get caught and go to prison.
Car insurance is expensive enough already.

...to make very much armor for the real military HMVs. Too bad for our troops.
