but I figure I'm not dead yet. It's not so much that I don't like what I've done, it's just that I'm not really sure what I want to do next.

24. i'm sure, i just don't know |
|
if i will get to. i thought my kids would be pretty self reliant and settled by now, maybe even helpful. but instead one is bipolar, and not stable, another is 18 and adrift. my littlest has a chronic illness that requires lots of meds and doctors. just waiting for the 13 year old to go nuts. 4 kids, 4 sets sacks of trouble. life is a chaotic nightmare around here sometimes. what was i thinking?

. . . while you are planning to end up somewhere. ;)

...I wanted to kidnapp an heiress and threaten her with a knife...and get an autographed copy of Randy Mantooth, a solid gold kama sutra coffee pot, a new Monza!, and a baby's arm holding an apple.
Instead, I'm here.

I was getting really close. I was doing great and getting comfortable.
Then the Bush economy decided to take all of that away from me. Now I'm trying to get into shape to join the Navy because that's really all that is left for me to do.

In July 2001, I was the happiest I've ever been. Great job, great wife, lovely home...
All gone now.
But I still have my health (touch wood!), and a sliver of optimism. If you were there once, you can be there again. Keep your chin up, and I will, too.

The hard part is trying to stop loving the person and it's very hard to do that.

That generally happens when you die and all is said and done.
I hope there's a few more chapters left in the book.

No, I did not end up in life where I thought I would, and thank God for that!!!
Life has been very very good to me, amazingly. Somehow I've managed to do quite well for myself and have never been arrested.

I'm a Japanese>English translator, long time anime and import video game fan, able to watch/play both with very high levels of comprehension even though I'm an English native speaker. But, I'm still single and I'm not rich and I could be thinner and more athletic and all that stuff. (Translation is not an aerobic job.) So on the way, but just not there yet.
Still, I am one person who can claim to enjoy his work, at least, enjoy the process of doing the work, if not doing work rather than some other gainful things.

21. Actually I'm doing better than most people thought I would... |
|
I had the misfortune of being incessantily put down by adults, teachers, peers and family members throughout my youth. A guidance counselor dismissed me as another burger flipper... :evilfrown: I can't continue... but I'm doing a lot better than I thought I'd be doing - never mind 75% of the worlds population!

What I wanted to be was an astronomer, Unfortunately I couldn't deal with the math, at a time when I needed to (I've gotten better). But, I am a biologist, and am working on a project of major importance. So it could be far worse.

27. I have achieved two of my major goals in life... |
|
I was able to retire by age 40, and I will no longer ever have to have a boss, or be a boss...
unfortunately, the way I attained those goals was due to the onset of an unbeknownst to me at the time congenital disabling spinal condition...
now- i only need to find an affordable place to live where there are palm trees, (and no shortage of fresh water), and where I can legally obtain cannabis...
but then-
all of my goals will have been reached, and i'll have nothing left to strive for...no reason to keep on living...
maybe best i stay put for now, until i get this whole cosmic kharma thing 'figgered out'.
