I need a popup killer! Any recommendations? |
|
For some reason, I'm suddenly getting inundated with popups. I have the google toolbar but it doesn't seen to be working.

Get Spybot Search and Destroy (it's free) Get Ad-Aware (it's free)
Run both to clean your system of spyware and then install Mozilla Firefox 0.9 which has built in popup blocking, tabbed browsing, and is faster than IE.

3. agreed, make sure to update them before you run the scan |
|
New spyware pops up (no pun intended) every day. So everytime you run the program make sure to run an update so it will catch everything. I run my ad-aware on the deep scan mode (the middle selection with all green check marks). You'll see what I'm talking about if you use the program. Good luck!

I used Ad-Aware and cleaned out my system. Then I started running Mozilla. Haven't seen a pop up in a month. Haven't even had to run Ad-Aware since!

I use Spybot & Ad Aware, they rock... Zone Alarm is a free (they have paid versions too) firewall that works well too, I use all 3 & have no problems anymore. Zone Alarm stops popups and web bugs and can block cookies if you want it to. I've found that if I turn off Zone Alarm for like one day and then run Ad Aware, I'll find another 30 pieces of crap have been downloaded into my system so Zone Alarm seems to be a good thing.

4. You may have some software installed that is doing this. |
|
Or they could be "pop-unders" instead of "pop-ups". Run your favorite spybot program and see if it comes up with something.

6. Try the Google tool bar |
|
It's free and catches a lot of the popups but not all. Your have to install Google into your toolbar to do this but its easy.

Also, tell your hitters to abandon the uppercut swing. And bring their arms in when the ball tails in on them.
